No way. If you hold the wiimote (without M+) vertically strait up and slowly pull it away from the TV, nothing will happen. It just can't measure that. You need the IR pointer to measure depth like that (or M+).goblaa
It has nothing to do with IR.
It's the fact the Wii Remote is moving in a certain direction, something that can be measured.
It doesn't need to measure the direction or the "depth", it just needs to know it's moving.Pull back on the nunchuk and the nunchuk knows it's moving.
Wii Motion Plus in no way affects the Nunchuk and the demos show the Nunchuk being used to pull back on the string, that should be proof enough.
