So what actually was the problem? And how did you fix it?

Vari3ty

The problem was with the HDCP, if you know what is. It kept resetting itself. So I just got some really good quality cables and messed with the display settings and VOILA! 1080P! BAM! Right there :P Crystal clear. Way better than my 360. So much sharper. And my 360 is in 1080 too.

Did your PS3 ever give you an audio problem? Like I keep getting this message "This HDMI device does not support audio output"BudFudlacker11

No audio problems for me. And what do you mean audio problems? Maybe your HDMI cable is outdated? Do you have a 1.3 certified HDMI cable? And does your TV have speakers? And no sound is coming out of it? Can you please explain a bit more...i don't really know what problem you're having. I know it's an audio problem, but be more specific please.

you won't always see it with the naked eye but HDMI is a definite win..

maybe your TV doesnt support it...it needs to be full hd for that, not just hd... and some tv's even say that they run full hd but in reality they don't... i got a 52 inch bravia and don't want anything else, ever :p

Foxdies

My TV DOES support it. I have my xbox360 running on HDMI at 1080P. But the same HDMI cable does NOT work with my PS3. At first, it worked but it only showed in 480P for some reason. Now it doesn't show at all. So my only option is to just go with Component cables. And I heard it's not really much of a difference anyways. Especially for smaller TV's. I have a 32 inch 1080P HDTV that I use in my room. So I probably won't notice a big difference. With the 360, I didn't notice much of an improvement when I replaced Components with HDMI.

[QUOTE="AllTimeHigh"]

Wow....seems like all of you are running on 1080P. But I searched on the internet and most people were only running their PS3's on 720P. And can't get it to 1080P. There's literally TONS of forums about people complaining on having their PS3's run on 720P. At least they can get their HDMI's to work...and I can't. Which is a shame. Maybe I need to call Sony. Or maybe have the Geek Squad from Best Buy come over to my house and see what the problem is...

Geek Squad??? DO NOT EVER USE THEM!!!!! RIP OFF TO THE MAX!!

Seriously?? Why?

Mine says 1080p, but my TV is only 720p so I don't know why my TV even displays that.

1080P, 720P, 480P, etc. I'm trying to figure something out here. A lot of people seem to be running it on 720P and can't get it higher. But others seem to be running it at 1080p just fine. And people with standard TV's obviously are running it on 480P...or 480i.

There won't be a massive change, if any. Analog conversion is pretty good now a days so need to worry. Now you will have to worry if your TV/Monitor can display Analog signals in a 1080p resolution, most don't but who knows.

How do you have your PS3 set up? HDMI cable? Or just component HD cables? And does it show in 1080?

Even if the difference is slight or negligible, it seems silly to accept anything but HDMI if your TV has available HDMI inputs. I have no idea what the problem is. I suspect "user error" just because of how many threads you are starting just to get your PS3 running!!!! But to be safe, just return your PS3 for a new one if you can't get it right with HDMI. If the 2nd PS3 still gives you problems with HDMI then you will know it's a "you" problem and can work from there. I told you in the thread yesterday there was no reason to get a Sony branded HDMI either. Waste of money. I hope you at least returned that when you picked up the component cables, but even those components are a waste IMO. You really need to get it running on HDMI. If not then you have a faulty PS3, or are setting it up wrong. Either way the solution shouldn't be to go down to component cables.2Chalupas

Yeah, I returned it and bought components with the extra money. I'm tired of these problems so I'm just gonna go with the components. All I want to do is play my PS3. I got the PS3 about 3 or 4 days ago. And during all those days, I tried to get my ps3 to show up in HDMI, and it didn't. So I'm just gonna go with components now...I'm out of options. Nothing else I can do.
