I'm sort of getting tired of pre-adolescent RPGs and there cliche stories about being sole saviors or the world. Personally I thought FFXII had a pretty mature theme...aside from Vaan being an adolescent idiot oblivious to everything not being a sky pirate. Its probably one of the more complex story lines out that NOT involving a sappy Love Story of some sort, like *cough cough, X.

Granted I do believe X has one of the better fighting systems but I do love the implementation of XII. Since we're on the topic of the battle systems I LOVED VII...minus the RIDICULOUSLY long animation sequences (*yay to IX for fixing that), its all the micromanagement I could've asked for...too bad not many general gamers liked it; plus I REALLY liked the TRIGGER when using Squall and...oh, Seifer (temporary brain fart).

Regardless, I've played every Final Fantasy and its fun to watch the series grow and take on more complicated themes instead of a boring save the world by going through this quest and beating this boss/ master. There need to be themes that resonate and actually impact the story...besides, who doesn't love a war story? We've plenty of Medal of Honors, Call of Duties, and Company of Heroes to attest to that.

I just remembered another one: Battlefield: Bad Company's trailer's got a lot of them -

"...he said I can blow up everything! I thought he was...you know-'embedded.'"

Having just played and finishing BIOSHOCK on the 360 and having the ability to go back and listen to recorded messages it reminded me of the greatest thing about video games: TAG LINES and QUOTES!

Right on top of my newly updated list has to be Sander Cohen's poem: The Wild Bunny.

Pure insanity...it has to be heard...

Next would be the lot of memorable and laughable lines from Resident Evil 2: "Hold your fire, I'm a human!"

Even better: "It's blood. I hope this isn't Chris' blood."

If a train is heading North at 65 miles an hour and another train of equal mass is heading south on a seperate track but parallel to the other at 35 miles an hour, both leaving at 2:00 pm PST, at what time will the tree fall and will it be heard if it fell on Uncle Phil?

Also, the Japanese utilize these infectiously popular toilets that clean your arse for you after you drop the children off in the pool, which way does the water swirl when flushed and should you use a toilet bowl cleaner?

I'm definately having to tip my hat towards Fatal Frame having played ALL the games already mentioned here and more.

I guess what really makes Fatal Frame scary is what you're limited to do as opposed to blowing sh-x-x apart...because of the system and the presentation employed.

I felt REALLY inadequate in the Fatal Frame series, you couldn't just blast away at things and you couldn't necessarily run/ see/ attack things right away. The ambience and use of sound through out the game I have to say beats Silent Hill, for I thought the SH was scary as in the shocking kind of fear, much like how someone mentioned Alma's utilization in F.E.A.R. Couple that in with false shocks and alerts via vibration of the controller and even vibrations to things you couldn't even see...I have to say the pressure was intense when you played the game, it always kept you on your toes. Did I mention things you couldn't see but knew were there? Damn that sister of yours (in II) and that cat in the house (III) always looking at things...not to mention you couldn't leave the other behind if you ran for it yourself!

But the only lacking thing behind the Fatal Frame series is when you got to fight the bosses...it was like: "Alright Mother F-x-x-er, you're getting this camera jammed into your face!" *Smash-Click.

The intensity builds up and then whoosh...gone, when you fight a boss/ master. Film at maximum? Check. Strongest film? Check. Upgrades? Not so much, who cares...blow the bastard away!! (Err,...take pictures of them...you get the idea...)

...I have to say also...when Resident Evil 2 came out that was pretty freaky...damn those lickers jumping or falling through sh-x-x!

Yes.

In fact I DID get the Legendary H3 package (Har har, laugh all you want) then even after that there's going to be Mass Effect and then Ace Combat 6...and yes I'm getting the Flight Stick Controller.

Why you ask?

Same reason why I buy underwear...

Oh how I love the newer stricter rules...that nobody follows. Not that it matters to me anyways, I'm well over the age limits and it'll be interesting to see how the Sales Representatives will follow these recent enactments to underage gamers.

...but like someone mentioned earlier, I had my ways of getting things even if they were prohibited to me because of my age. Its the same theory behind Net Nannies and Porn. There WILL ALWAYS be a way. PrOn FtW!1!111

Anyways...on topic: I'll be there, the night of it...by myself or with someone else receipt in hand for a fully paid game and you know what they'll do? Let me into the shorter or even non-existent line of fully paid pre-orderers.

Next, I'll be mocking the young'uns with their parents as I leave to play the hell out of H3 instead of studying for my zoology exam the very next week. COURSE FORGIVENESS FTW!!! (...can you believe that? What will my course advisor think!? "Sonny...you mean to tell me you played a video game the whole semester!? Git!")

...time to plan out me calling-out strategy for work too...

All of them...at once...you know like that crazy contraption of a sword Cloud had in Advent Children.

...but my vote goes to Squall, you can't beat the packaging on it like the picture above...and a Lion-head? How cute.
