So, i got the new model, with the new fan by ASUS, it run great and all, it's stock (600/1500/1800) and stay at 39c.

But physically, when i look at it, i can notice there's a slight curve on it, so, is it ''normal''. It looks just wrong, and badly made. i hope i didn't get one with a problem, i already had to return my first XFX 8800GT 512 mo cause the fan stopped working. . .

Yea, seems like Speedfan isn't accurate for CPU temp.

Also, is there a software that show how many cores of my Q6600 are used when running games/applications ?

I have many software to check the temp of my hardware, ( SensorsView, PC wizard, CoreTemp, Rivatuner, SpeedFan ) and they all give pretty muchthe same result, i.e. CPU ( Q6600 ) = 34c/32c/34c/34c, MOBO P5K-e = 26c

Only SpeedFan give different results, CPU =20c/20c/20c/20c, also, there's something called ''AUX'' and gives a temp of 127c, ?? what is that ? what is AUX supposed to be ? in all the other softwares, AUX = 26c, so i guess it's my mobo... but i don't know. ..

So, any guess about that 127c ''AUX'' in speedfan ?

While GPU's do run hotter than CPU's, they are engineered in a manner to be more tolerant of such temperatures. They're also significantly more complex now than even the latest, state-of-the-art CPU's. That being said, I would get uncomfortable about a GPU running around 100C as well. If anything, I'd try to avoid anything video-intensive until you are able to get it shipped/replaced.codezer0

Yes yes, of course, as soon as i found the fan was broken, i stopped playing games, im only using my PC for internet now. It's been 4 days now, and i have to admit it's hard to not play, lmao, but so far, i resisted to the temptation :)

Great, thx. If damage are limited to the GPU only, im happy, anyway ill get a new one :)

Also, my PC never crashed, i only noticed a FPS drop in games, so it may be a good sight.

I don't know how much time iv'e played games with the fan being broken on my 8800GT, i found the performances were decreasing while playing games, and i finally found the fan of my GPU wasn't working, but maybe i played many hours with a GPU overheating.

Do you think it could have damaged others parts of my PC ? righ now, my GPU temp is 70c, and was probably going around 100c, if not more, during games. I got a Q6600 stock, P5K-E, XFX 8800GT 512mo, Antec 900.

So, what do you think ? how can i know if my overheating GPU damaged something ?

Also, i have heard there's a ''old'' 8800GT with a smaller fan, and a most recent 8800GT, with a bigger fan. How can i know which model is my XFX 8800GT ?

XFX 8800GT @ 640mhz + Q6600@2.40 + P5K-e Wifi + OXZ 2go @ 800mhz, Case Antec 900,(everything is stock, i don't overclock).

Since a couple of days i've noticeda pretty bigfps drop while playing my games for more than 5-10min( oblivion, cod4 ). So i opened my case to check if my PC was overheating, and there i couldn't belive what i saw : the fan on my GPU wasn't even working !!!!

I don't know how to check the temp of my GPU, but let me tell you it's pretty hot, i can't leave my hand on it more than 5 sec.... I don't know why the fan stopped working, but i did. It used to work correctly though, i got my new PC 3-4 weeks ago and never had any FPS problem, and i remember the first day i got my PC,i opened it, and i clearly saw the fan on the 8800GT working correctly.

Now i don't know what to do, there isn't much to do, i can only drop a call to the guy who built my PC, and fix the problem or change the card, i think i have a 1 year warranty, WELL I HOPE I DO !!!! 300 $%?%$?$ bucks !!!! Sry, im a little pissed off.

Anyway, do you think my GPU could be permanently damaged ?i used my PC a lot in the last couple of days, while my GPU was overheating and i didn't know it. I did notice a big FPS drop, but my PC never crashed though.

Also, has anyone got the same prob with a 8800gt ??
