Can't understand the title, is not just The Witcher, also Tomb Raider, Assassins Creed and Pillars of Eternity. Is great to know that a game funded by gamers is among millionaire franchises... well earned Pillars of Eternity!

You’re talking as if modding depended on administrative decisions and, boom! by magic consoles will have mods. But is a bit more complex...

1. Mods are individual hobbies from gamers and there isn’t corporation directive that makes me make a mod for other platform what I don’t care.

2. Mods are made and tested on PC, so to port and test on consoles is an extra job that most modders want avoid (even to do the Readme file of the mod is extra unwanted work to get the picture)...

3. Graphics mods, filters, overpopulation, assets with too many polygons, etc, require to exceed the “recommended” or “preferred” requirements. For example: to run Fallout 3 you need a PC equal or better than a PS3, but to run graphic mods you need a PC that (at least) doubles the power of the PS3 (and x10 to run many of them together), that makes technically impossible to run them on consoles.

4. There is even more, like 3rd party programs, for example to run pretty well large quantity of mods requires: Script Extender, Mod Manager, Archieveinvalidation, Boss, Large Address Aware Enabler, Fallout Stutter Remover, Fake Fullscreen, FOEdit, NifScope, etc. Those programs are from modders or companies, and never will run on consoles.

So, why Bethesda announced mods to consoles if it is impossible to do with efficiency? I think the main reason is marketing, maybe consoles don’t want to be seeing as shit in comparisons against PC versions (Skyrim, GTA, Ark, etc), I don't know, don't care, just take in mind that could be for paid, nobody knows how it would work because are closed systems, you never will be able to do whatever you want, have that in mind.

So "there may be some mods on consoles" is not important, what you should ask is If you think that you would want to mod, why you will buy the version of the game that you are sure will make it impossible in most cases and harder for sure.

To be clear, think carefully what do you want, if you think that you will want to mod someday, you really need a good PC. Is an advise, I’m modder, I know what I’m saying.

Obviously PC has the better graphics but there are all the same assets and textures so the improvement came from filters, framerate, resolution, stability, etc.

The game (apparently) is the same but is not, in PC we have the full game, as it was designed, with less bugs, full functionality including commands, and also full mod-ability (which is one of the biggest features of all Bethesda games).

If you don't have a PC to compare directly, you will not notice the lack of graphics in a console, but you surely will notice the overall limitations.

About graphics, just wait the upcoming 8k textures and repeat this comparison then, hehe...

One of the games that keep me playing again and again, alongside with Wasteland 2 or Divinity Original Sin, character design, inventory management and one mission more! Fun is endless in these games.

@bc2999: ok, you don't know that MS or Sony don't pay for this kind of "news" on holidays, my comment was a question, yours is an affirmation, stupid discussion, I'm done with this, bye.

@bc2999: you've implied that Sony or MS are immune to hacking when even the Pentagon is not. I have not proofs that Sony or MS pay for this kind of articles, so I've asked if that is true, because it seems to be what happens every year near the Holidays against the most popular platform.

@bc2999: Every online system has exactly the same problems. Other thing is that magazines one does not make public all of them (just Steam ones, right?). But each online system has the same faults, even Banks and the Pentagon. So grow up, this is not just "a Steam problem" like this kind of "news" attempts to show.

@bluefox755: But I have a better quality fun in PC. And about “obsessed with graphics > gameplay”, that does not need to be exclusionary, in PC we have both, graphics AND gameplay, in fact seems the inverse, console players really seem obsessed with graphics OVER gameplay, their best exclusives are interactive movies like Uncharted while in PC we still playing World of Warcraft, and you actually ARE exchanging graphics for gameplay having the worst gameplay experience ever, there are entire genres excluded or difficult in consoles as strategy, simulation, moba, shooter and any point&click or drag&drop mechanics, inventory management, etc, not mention level editors or mods, the pad is comfortable in a very narrow range of games and we have pad on PC too! So yes, consoles seem an inexhaustible succession of “cants”.

About interactive movies, if you like to see a movie interrupted by short dumb gameplay following on screen instructions, that's up to you, just saying that interactive movies barely are games.

Never understood 2 kind of nominations:

1. Consoles exclusives
2. Interactive movies

Consoles exclusives can’t be good games because you simply can’t play them on the best platform, can’t run in the best quality, can’t still playing them after the console became obsolete, can’t use mods, can’t, can’t, can’t, consoles are an accumulation of cants...

And interactive movies are just movies in which you spend hours following on-screen instructions to chain a cinematic with the next, and you’ll never re-play them again to do exactly the same (is pathetic that the only reason to re-play them is to unlock achievements)...

Having said that is mandatory to ask for Pillars of Eternity, Starcraft, Grey Goo, can’t believe you forgot those real games... Seriously, what happens in the great G?
