I'm a new PS3 owner, and I'm just wondering what games you all could recommend, which have offline multiplayer without having to use split-screen? (I don't have a very big TV)

I know that fighting games (Soul Calibur, Tekken...) and some sports games (Fight Night, NBA Live...) fit the bill.

But what about other genres, like action/rpg/shooter/puzzle/etc?

The relatively low score for FF13 doesn't really bother me, and I don't think it should bother most RPG fans (and FF fans particularly) for this reason:

Many review sites, such as GAMESPOT and especially EDGE, seem to be predisposed to just LUV first-person shooters and action games, and dislike traditional RPGs. If you want to see reviews for RPG games that will actually reflect the opinions of most RPG gamers, you usually have to go to specialized sites (such as RPGfan)

When GAMESPOT gives FF13 an 8.5/10, EDGE gives it a 5/10, whereas Dengeki gives it a 120/100!!! --- You can see that differences in perspective are hugely important.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue, but it does have to do WITH my computer hardware.

I'm having a problem with the sleep setting on my computer - when I set it to sleep mode, it sounds like everything inside the case (i.e. case fans) remains on, so the noise level is exactly the same when I set it to sleep, as it is when the computer is fully on. I've tried waiting a few minutes --- nothing happens.

It IS technically in sleep mode though, as I still have to shake the mouse to wake it up. *This problem started when I updated my BIOS* due to an unrelated issue. Before that, when I initiated sleep mode, everything in the case would power down, and become totally silent.

Is there some way I can change the sleep settings, to make everything power down properly during sleep mode?

[QUOTE="Anti-Semantic"][QUOTE="polarwrath11"]Download the latest driverrrrrs. Standardly. My bro's laptop has an 8600M GT and with default drivers he can't watch standard divx stuff without lag. After updating, he can watch HD 720p stuff. They make a world of difference bro!Appule70

Thanks for the suggestion, but I actually did that already. I have the latest GeForce 9 series drivers (195.62) which I installed today without any problems...Got any other ideas? Maybe I have to change some settings in NVIDIA control panel? (I'm not sure)

http://downloads.guru3d.com/ForceWare-195.81-Win-XP-32-bit-download-2445.html

try these ones instead, i had trouble with those drivers.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. It actually seems to have straightened itself out, somehow. I haven't tinkered with any settings since posting, so I guess it just needed some time to 'get into the groove' or something....yeah.

Hello all. I just got a new[ish] video card, an XFX GeForce 9800GT. But I'm having a strange problem - My gaming performance is very good (I can play Resident Evil 5 with High settings), and yet, my video performance is actually slower than before. I previously used a GeForce 7900 GS, and I could watch HD videos on YouTube, more or less perfectly. But now I'm getting very choppy playback. (I'm not running multiple programs, and my Internet connection is as fast as always) So what can I do to improve performance in this regard?

Anyone know why there are no PC games that use Tray-and-Play technology, other than Halo 2? It's been over two years since then, so I'd imagine game developers have had plenty of time to try it out and decide whether or not to use it. For those who don't know, Tray and Play is basically a technology developed for "Games for Windows" titles, which allows you to insert a PC DVD and start playing instantly, as the game installs in the background. Sounds groundbreaking...but the ground remains untouched. Why? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Games_for_Windows#Tray_and_Play

This is the integrated graphics card that came with my Laptop. When I scan my system at SystemRequirementsLab, it says I have like 1400 MB of video memory...but I can't even watch 720p movies without slowdown; same for games...In Left 4 Dead, for example, I have to put everything to LOW to play smoothly. What exactly is the point of "1400 MB video memory" if - practically - it does nothing?

Hi You have to see what bios version you have on your board. Looks like

your board was made by Intel. You have an Intel 945GC Northbridge chipset. I went to Asus site and checked the same

Northbridge chipset on their boards just to see what they have done with their bios versions. Asus

seems to have been able to support 1066Mhz bus natively but 1333 bus will revert to 1066. I found this

forum thread: http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/725714-cpu-bios-upgrade.html

Looks like you will have to go over to the Intel site and see if you can get a bios flash update.

Better check what bios version you have now at this point. Maybe it is new enough to support

the E4700. If you are lucky maybe the new bios will allow you to put in a processor with a 1066Mhz

front side bus.

Sorry, I'm quite illiterate when it comes to the BIOS. I found out which BIOS version I have "GATEWA - 3ef". There is a new update on the Intel site but it says not to update unless I have a specific problem (which, I don't know if I do) So how do I know whether I can use the e4700, or possibly even a processor with a 1066Mhz bus? And if I need to update the BIOS in either case?

lets see, its severely downclocked (50mhz on core and 200 mhz on memory) this is not good, without 6 pin power you wont be able to overclock without sucking every last bit of electricity out of your slot, i'd say go for a normal one, the cooling looks VERY shoddy and the clocks are horrendousGTR2addict
Thank you very much, GTR2addict.
