Ah, my first journal entry, and what an occasion to start my entire journal with! I've been playing videogames for over twenty years now, and have always particularly been intrigued by RPGs. I've played some greats too, including Earthbound and Chrono Trigger. Somehow though, I never actually got around to the Final Fantasy series. Sure, the pretty graphics lured me to Final Fantasy X, which I loved, but something inside me says that if I am to call myself a true RPG fan, I would need to play the rest of the games. And so, recently I have decided to undertake a daunting task. I'm going to play through every numbered Final Fantasy game in order.
I'm quite pleased with myself to announce that I have made it through Final Fantasy. I was very impressed. Now, I played the Dawn of Souls version, so to some of you, I might not be hardcore, but still, I found the game to very fun and quite challenging at times. In RPGs, I always tend to find the loopholes in games. I always tend to be ridiculously leveled-up, and usually have a fairly easy time advancing through the game. It was no pushover, though, there were times I had to re-think my strategy in a certain area.
Overall, I really enjoyed the game, and feel a lot better having finally completed this classic. I feel like a more accomplished gamer now, like I have passed a milestone that's been waiting for me for a decade. It was fun.
Now, although I'm not too sure how much I'll like the level system, I press on in Final Fantasy II. My goal is to get everything done before Final Fantasy XII releases. I intend to be fully caught up by then so that I too can say, "I've beaten every Final Fantasy game to date!"
Somewhere in between I'll even finish Final Fantasy Tactics and any other of the games I come across.
