This is a day one purchase for me. It has to be, because I pre-ordered it

Child abuse is a difficult subject to tackle well -- especially when you're trying to convey it in a meaningful, thought-provoking manner through film, television and possibly even video games. This is the first I've ever heard of these films, and it's somewhat discouraging when they're not given the same attention as all those blockbusters and rom coms that are heavily promoted by Hollywood these days. That said, I must commend you for bringing these films to the forefront and promoting them as important elements in encouraging discussions on a tragic issue that seems to affect millions of children every day in this country.
I really liked your overall analysis on both of these films. I felt I was given a better understanding of the overall tone and the seriousness of the plot, so I know what to expect when I see them. As xyse said, I would have liked to have seen more of your own personal feelings regarding child abuse/pedophilia and how the films fared in appropriately exploring these issues, but you generalized and explained your stance in well enough detail. Still, what you have written down is great work. Keep it up!
[QUOTE="Asagea_888"]Torrance Library rocks, I need to get over there again one day. Nice! Do you visit the Katy Geissert Library? They recently did renovations, and still have that display of unopened Star Wars figures :PI have one from the Torrance Library, but haven't used it since high school XD
Well, it's mostly because I buy books at the bookstore now.

I'm open for a once-every-other-week plan, possibly announcing the assignment a week in advance. This will not only give more time for people to write up their entries, but also bring in more potential candidates.
Also, I don't see why you can't post any of your own writing for which you'd like some editing recommendations. I could see the union focusing on submissions for contests or front-page assignments getting editing priority should this union become super popular and busy, but from my understanding this union is dedicated to providing a place to have any of your works critiqued (beyond homework assignments) zyxe
I agree with this idea. Of course, contests and submissions are incredibly important, but it wouldn't hurt for any aspiring writer here in GS to have reviews (or maybe blogs flagged as editorials) critiqued. I'd like to see the Writer's Roundtable help a lot more people who have the itch for writing.
