I have a question: Those widescreen monitors look fine, but do they work properly with the OS and all the programs? Or do you get some out-of-ratio visuals?

What are the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit Vista? Does 64-bit support 4 GBs of RAM? I heard that 64-bit is more problematic with today's games, but is it a better choice to have for future games?

9 series is here and the 9800GTX still pwns the 8800GTX for the same price, buy one of those because they will have better performance when they SLI too.hongkingkong

Yeah, the 9 series may be there but it's not here where I live yet, and besides even when it arrives new cards are so super-priced here that I'd rather wait at least for a year before buying it.

I don't like SLI, but what do you guys think about 8800 Ultra? It doesn't seem to be worth its price to me, but what's your opinion?

I am going to get a single card, most probably a 8800 GTX. Those have been getting cheaper, and the 9 series apparently hasn't arrived yet.

As for buying a MacPro, I didn't have a good experience with Mac so I'll just stick to the normal old ways. I want to get Vista because of Dx 10 and, hey, it's the new thing and it will soon be all over the place :) Getting XP now for a new rig would be like buying a new Windows 98 when XP was already out for some time, I think

Nope. I live in Turkey :D

As you might guess, hardware is more expensive over here, sometimes even double-priced. But I've been saving money for this rig so I want a nice one.

Thanks, guys. I am planning to have 4gb of RAM so I guess I should go with 64-bit Vista Home Premium. As for the mobo, I won't use SLI will just have a single 8800 GTX. If I buy the processor as a combo would the motherboard they put be a bad one? Those companies are doing a crappy job in putting together combos, but I think it's kinda stupid that people who want a good effective gaming PC should know all about motherboards and all the components.

I am building a new computer and I want it to be fairly high-end and effective. I want to get a Core 2 Duo or Extreme but the problem is that I know nothing to nothing about motherboards. Won't the standard motherboard coming with the processor suffice? Do I need to pick a special motheboard for effective performance? If so, what do you suggest?

And also what's the difference between 64-bit and 32-bit Vista? Are those the Home and the Ultimate editions? Why one should I have for good gaming performance?

Lots of questions here but here I am a fellow desperately seeking help

Actually I'm more interested in the sound quality in games rather than of MP3 tracks. I am building a powerful rig and got used to getting crappy sound from onboard audio so I thought I would rather have the atmosphere complete in the games I play and would like to get more from my 4.1 speakers.

Hi there. I am building a new rig and I want it to be a powerful gaming machine. I never had a sound card like Sound Blaster in my computers before so for this new rig would you advise me to buy one? I have 4+1 speakers so will the quality of the sound in the games be nicely enhanced?

Or maybe the onboard sound card is more than enough and buying a separate card won't do much and just cause problems. What do you say?
