Yeah, don't drop out. I did, and I'm making a pathetic $12 an hour. :| If your plan is to drop out and move back home to hang out with friends, then yes, you're screwed. At least get your GED and some extra schooling.
Mine happened when I was working on cruise ships. One night in Bermuda (it was around 3 AM, actually), me and 5 other band members got REALLY drunk and decided to go for a swim in Tobacco Bay, which is a little cove protected by rock formations close to St. George. Hurricane Betty was blowing in the Atlantic.
We though it would be neat to swim through a narrow passage in the rocks into the ocean itself. Needless to say, we barely got back alive. We had to make a human swim chain to keep from getting pulled out to sea, and then we got slammed so hard against the cliffs we could barely move the next day. We emerged bloody, shaking, hearts pounding, and very sober. Very close (and stupid) brush with Death.
