Even on the worst mmorpgs, you'll get a load of people who've stuck by their game and are uber elite... all of the mmorpgs Ive posted are probably rewarding if you get a good guild and a good number of friends on the game..
werlll I'm playing the R.O.S.E. Online open beta (wont be p2p for at least a year) and loving it. Its quite cutesie and immature and stuff but I dig that style, its like 3D playstation 2 rpg graphics and it's made by the same guys who made ragnarok online and its deffintiely gonna have 1 million + players when it goes retail (you can hold me to that :P). I suppose it's main flaw is it's immaturity, but I suppose that widens its target audience. I must also add that Ragnaoroks mainflaw was its graphics... and I think this looks ten times better than 2D manga Sprites I'm sure when it goes to retail it could easily have a better job system than RO. It's superior to Pristontale in every way as well.
If you want a more realistic, perhaps better looking mmorpg then Kal Online is pretty to look at and the more I research into it the neater it seems. For instance there is an "Ancient animal transformation" Feature where each class has the ability to transform into a beast (eg tiger for knight, panther for archer) and it gets stronger as you level.
others may reccomend MU online but it looks a rather dated diablo-like mmorpg and I've read a lot of whining on the forums about being pked as soon as you go out the newbie city and tonnes and tonnes of hackers and cheaters.
Bottom line is my personal favourite is ROSE online, but bear in mind you could hate it.... especially if you have no love for japanese console rpgs.... otherwise give it a dl!
