@AzatiS: you were trashing sheep and talking about how dumb they are. I told you to cut it out, because that is against the SW guidelines. You're supposed to make reasoned arguments about systems and their strengths/weaknesses, not go after the fanbase itself. He then thanked me for steering the thread back to SW, and not FW.

I find it hard to believe you don't know this

Oh really, i trashed sheep ? Show me the post i did trash anyone and i crossed the line because ill show you alot of posts sheep doing that instead. What is this now ? New rules ?

Not go after the fanbase ? What the hell are you talking about ? Show me the post i did that or show me a rule that says " dont after fanbase " Is this a new rule ? Since when i after anyone ? You clearly made that up yourself to find a reason to delete my post, also you never mentioned me or warned me about something like that, this is something you made up. Also fireemblem asked you for that thats why he said thank you.

Show me the post you deleted and point out where or who i did after. Was a sheep called others fanboys and i mentioned that the fanboys calling Octo a 10/10, the best RPG ever or the FF6 of this era are not any better. Haha ! Show me please the post Or else you clearly are wrong here and acting emotionally or based on preference and this is not in any SW rules.

PS : Still waiting to show me what was so bad about my response.

Cut the fanwars crap guys. This is SW

Thank you!

Also, did you get the game Xantu?

Can you both elaborate further what do you mean "cut the fanwars craps this is SW" because this is the most epic line i ever heard in SW, and what this "Thank you" is all about ? Im really curious, if something happened let us know.

@nintendoboy16:

Im sure ill be missing many sequels ill try mention some popular so here i go

1) Resident Evil 4 --> It didnt make ANY sense as a sequel to previous games, there were zero links story wise and also a way different genre than what RE series supposed to be. Felt wrong for too many reasons as a sequel to me. It could have been a great side RE game but not a direct sequel ... also that formula led to RE5+RE6 and RE downfall in general and thank god that changed.

2) Diablo 3 --> Where the hell to start with this game ? As one of the biggest fans of Diablo franchise and action RPG genre in general this was the biggest failure i could ever dream off for reasons we all know.

3) Mass Effect 3 ---> As a somewhat fan of 1+2 ... that storyline and ending of ME3 ! Omfg, nuff said.

4) Tekken 4 ---> As a veteran by then i never got into Tekken 4. It felt so different than what i used to play ( tekken 3 ). Wasnt a bad game but imho the worst Tekken ever released, specially after one of the best entries in the series that of Tekken 3.

5) Crysis 2 ---> After the first game that was seriously a tech benchmark they released Crysis 2 to make it work for consoles ? No thanks.

6) Final Fantasy 12 ---> This thing wasnt Final Fantasy, was a single player MMORPG ... and a bad one compared to popular MMORPGs of the time. Sure it had its moments but wasnt the true sequel to the series i once was huge fan of.

7) Mortal Kombat 4 ---> The transition to 3D was terrible for one of the most iconic 2D fighters ever. It just felt so wrong and the tech of that era didnt help at all.

It is a cross between Saga Frontier and Final Fantasy 6 in my opinion. I'm 10 hours in, and it is simply the finest RPG I have played in a decade if not more.

The sheer level of choice and freedom that this game offers is unreal. When you play it, make sure you do not skip anything (they ask you if you want to skip the start of stories after the first person you skip, DONT!)

I got my team of 4 (Alfyn, Tressa, Therion, and H'aanit) and it is just so much fun!

It gets 10/10 from me so far.

Lol it's trash compared to Witcher 3.

Fanboys.....yawn.

I repeat, you calling Octopath the FF6 of this era, the 10/10, the best RPG ever released and various other things as you see from the posts. Talking fanboys...

Octopath to me was the only game on Switch this year i was looking forward because of this nostalgic feeling im having towards this kind of graphics and turn-based combat. But if story is weak then what this game supposed to be ? A nostalgic turn based game that looks cute ? Well, ill pass for now till someone with credibility that i trust let me know about its story. I dont trust either hype, scores or Sheep.

Ni no kuni 2 was exactly that. Hype, nice score, cartoonish feeling with anime cutscenes. Awesome right ? Wrong ! it ended up being a bad trip till the very end because story was so weak, terrible. We all know the best single player RPGs ever ( except very few exceptions ) considered as best because of story more than anything.

So 10/10, best rpg ever and FF6 of the generation ... you ( we ) wish !

I agree but on the other hand there are experiences that work with graphics. Resident Evil 7 for example. Can you imagine this game be any good with PS1 graphics ? So imo not all games can be fun regardless of graphics. Some are relating the core experience on graphics. Dead Space, Uncharted, RE7 to name a few.

I haven't played a Resident Evil game in years so I have no idea. Resident Evil 1 and 2 was pretty good on PS1 though, so that generation of Resident was fun.

Yeah, i remember watching a RE1 preview on Gamepro and i was all over it. Bought it day 1, had a blast and was my favorite game of that year by far. For its era was great but for todays standards, i dont know those graphics could work anymore on this specific genre. Resident evil 2 remake though, oh boy, will make alot of people appreciate what graphics can really do in gaming. Graphics do matter alot in the end for many games out there, youll see.

Shinji Mikami said that, if the 3D technology was more powerful back then, RE1 would've turned out to be a very different game. His original prototype design for RE1 was strikingly similar to RE7: first-person, fully 3D, psychological horror. But because the PS1 hardware was too weak, he decided to go with pre-rendered backdrops, fixed camera angles, and tank controls.

Exactly. RE was aiming for first person all along. They tried first person with a RE side game, dont remember which i did own it for a while but was ... bad.

The PS1 era of games or that era of "3D games" doesn't really hold up as well as sprites do, so I'll give you that. Take a game like Castlevania Symphony of the Night. That game is still amazing to look at to this day, but it's not full 3D.

My point is, just because the water starts looking better in a game doesn't automatically mean its a better game. I'm sure the developers of RE had all kinda of struggles programming controls for the PS1 back in the day. Analog movement vastly improved the Resident Evil games over the years that's for sure. Movement in Mario 64 was fantastic compared to anything out on the PS1 at the time simply because they had analog movement. (Are there terrible movement games on N64, yes)

Sigh, I remember GamePro such a great magazine.

Yeah i agree on that one. Another of my old time favorites, Symphony of the night and SM64. Imo the golden age of gaming, that transition from 2D to 3D was the biggest gameplay revolution since like forever, and we might not see anything like that ever again.

Gamepro yeah, haha funny memories. Still remember the preview of Resident Evil, it had GREEN as blood in the pictures and i was "wtf, why ? Oh well ". Then when i played the game blood was red and i was like " wow, its red. awesome !! " with excitement. So many way different and new experiences back then, one after the other. Missed those days, games were feeling so fresh :)
