For me the superior one would be Tekken but that was only because i started playing Tekken first, SoulCalibur started off as a spin off to Tekken as Soul Blade if you re-call, but has definatly stepped out of the shadow of Tekken to be its own true game. SoulCalibur and Tekken are neck and neck in terms of gamplay, technicality, and skill SoulCalibur is a little more faster than Tekken but Tekken emphasizes more on timed movements and attack.

That doesn't mean soulcalibur lacks emphasis on timing as those guard breaks are a high risk high reward kind of thing and skilled players can use them consistently well.

To get into detail, Tekken uses the four face buttons differently with each button corresponding to a limb, while soulcalibur has vertical and horizontal attack, a kick and gaurd button. Air combos are easy to get out of in soulcalibur as you can move in the air, but in tekken if you get launched, your vulnerable to free hits.

Soulcalibur has weapons to unlock to let you gain certain status aliments such as more damage less defense or slowly regain health etc. while with tekken 6 they are gonna have item throws where equipping new items will give you new throws to execute.

You can't really compare the two as the two are like comparing apples and oranges, one game is martial arts based using real life martial art styles that are very similar to what you see in real life, the other is weapons based focusing on the weapon at hand and your strategy with that type of weapon. you just have to ask yourself which is more your kind of game when deciding on the two. I personally am down for a good, pure, deep 3d fighter and im gald that namco made two terrific long lasting fighting games that have been running for over a decade.

The death of Aeris, never has a character with that little time in a game grew in you so much, that you will miss her after her passing.
