mets sign reliever Matt Wise to a one year deal

ya as mentioned above mets sign 32 yr oldMatt wise (played with milwaukee this season) to a one year deal. was it a good deal......i dunno we'll have to wait and see but im mostly leanin towards no.

Matt Wise, 32 (2007 team Milwakee brewers)
years pro: 7
career stats: 17-21, 4.18 era, 238 strikeouts
2007 stats: 3-2, 4.19 era, 1sv, 43k's in 53 1/3 innings

mets struggle in trades due to lack of ready talent

with the marlins shipping dontrelle willis and miguel cabrera to the tigers. it helps the mets that they dont have to face the 2 anymore but the mets cant seem to get a deal. the reason.......due to lack of ready prospects no one wants them and the mets dont have many only like 6 that are worth mentioning and here they are

philip humber, 25
(pitcher)
0-0, 7.71 era, 2k's in 2007
phillip has shown signs of greatness in his first and only start in 07 he showed it by shutting down the marlins however he struggled with his control at times and couldnt keep the runners off the basebath. coming out after only 4 innings the bullpen caved in and let in all the players he left on base reasoning his high era none the less i think fill will get better next year and will be very valuable to the mets.

Kevin Mulvey, 21
(pitcher)
12-10, 3.20 era, 113 k's in minors 2007
mulvey is a rarity for a 21 yr old pitcher he has great command and can strikeout any one with his 4 pitches a fastball, curveball, change up and a slider. he hasnt reached the majors yet and probobly wont till 2009 but i think the mets should hold on too him until he comes up and proves himself

Joe Smith, 23
(pitcher)
3-2, 3.45 era, 45k's in rookie season
joe has come up so fast and started off so hot people think he was a dissapointment at the end of the year. not true joe had a great season and is a low sidearm pitcher something the mets could use. he's only 23 and im sure he'll get much better after another year or two in the BIGS.

Mike Pelfrey, 23
(pitcher)
3-8, 5.57 era, 45k's in 2007
i hate pelfrey i think he's a huge bust and a waste. he has yet to prove himself at all and started of 0-7! i think he bell a solid pitcher as he gets older but nothing more. pelfrey should be traded now while he still has some value to him.

(NEWLY ACQUIRED TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!)

Steve Register, 24
(pitcher)
1-3, 4.03 ERA, 37 sv's, 48k's in minors
A pitcher with a modest velocity and a modest resume, Register "has a chance" to find work in the Mets' bullpen after leading the Double-A Texas League in saves (37) last season. He had a 1-3 record and a 4.03 ERA in 61 games and 58 innings, allowing 63 hits and 16 walks. He struck out 48. His three-year record as a starter was 19-28, while his ERA in 69 starts was 4.73.
he can be a closer of the future for the mets but now he is uncertain

(pitcure n/a)
Garry Bakker,24
(pitcher)
2-7, 3.67 ERA, 64 k's in minors
had a 2-7 record and a 3.67 ERA in 31 games (11 starts) for Winston-Salem (****A) of the Carolina League last season. In 83 1/3 innings, he allowed 79 hits and 45 walks and struck out 64. Bakker has a 13-16 record with 11 saves and a 4.60 ERA in 123 games in four years in the Minor Leagues.

Carlos Gomez, 23
(Outfielder)
.232 avg, 2hr's, 12 RBI's, 12 SB's in Debut season
the mets most treasured and most coveted prospect and i have to agree. gomez has incredible speed and great defense. he struggled in his time with the majors but was hampered by a broken and which he had to get surgically repaired. gomez will still be a rookie in 2008 and the mets outfielder of the future. he will continue to grow into one of the mlb's finest young stars.

Fernando Martinez, 18
(OUTFIELDER)
.265 avg, 4hr, 22 RBI in minors
people say martinez has it all but its too early to say that now. the incredibly young and talented fernando wont be ready for another 2-3 yrs so we'll have to see how he bounces back after a injury plagued minor league 2007.

mike carp, 21
(1st base)
.251 AVG 11hr 48 RBI in minors
he made a great impression in spring training. he'll definately be on the mets radar

and thats all the mets top prospects thank u and goodnight ^ ^

sean taylor of the washington redskins dies in hospital this morning

sean taylor,24 starting safety for the washington redskins dies in the hospital after being shot. he was shot in the leg and cut open a vital artery after being robbed yesterday in his miami home. sean was drafted by washington from miami university. he played 4 seasons with the redskins starting in all but 2 games in his nfl career. he led the team in interceptions with 5. he also had 42 tackles in 9 games. he missed the last 2 weeks with a knee injury. sean was a great player and had future hall of fame potentiol. in 4 seasons he had 299 tacklesand 12 interceptions. he was loved deeply by his family and teammates and will be missed dearly

R.I.P Sean Taylor
1983-2007

my hopes and prayers go out to sean. his family. and the washington redskins organization and i hope sean finds a football team to play with in heaven.

mets 2008 wishlist part 2: pitchers

STARTING PITCHERS

1.) Dan Haren, 26(oakland athletics)
15-9, 3.07 era, 192 k's in 2007

pros: coming off career year. has a great slider. has proven he can be the ace the mets need. will do even better in the NL. will continue to get better.

cons: has great value to athletics. will be a costly trade. struggles towards the end of the year

chances: unlikely

2.) joe blanton, 27 (oakland athletics)
14-10, 3.95 era, 140 k's in 2007

pros: is durable and never gets hurt. is a workhorse and an innings eater.a reliable #3 starter. moderate to little cost in trade.

cons: doesnt strike out many. struggles with starts at times

chances: likely

3.) eric berdard, 28 (baltimore orioles)
13-5, 3.16 era, 221 k's in 2007

pros: is a strike out pitcher. coming off career year. has solid stuff.

cons: injuries could be a problem. had some arm problems towards end of 07. trade cost is a lil much due to his outstanding year.

chances: maybe

4.) ben sheets, 29 (milwaukee brewers)
12-5, 3.82 era, 106 k's in 2007

pros: has proven to be an ace. solid stuff. a trade for him wouldnt cost much talent

cons: injuries plauged him in07 and could next year as well.

chances: likely

TOP STARTING PITCHER PROSPECT!!!!!

jake peavy, 26 (san diego padres)
19-6, 2.54 era, 240 k's in 2007

pros: best pitcher in NL, 2007 cy young award winner.

cons: san diego would not trade him unless they get alot of prospects.

chances: never gonna happen

RELIEVERS

eric gagne, 32 (free agent)
4-2, 3.81 era, 16 sv's, 51k's in 2007

pros: proven he is a great reliever. unnerving closer. has great stuff.

cons: coming off a terrible year with the rangers and the red sox. will want a big signing with alot of money (my guess about 3yr, 45 million)

chances: likely

2.) taylor tankersley, 25(florida marlins)
6-1, 3.99 era, 1 sv, 49 k's in 2007

pros: is part of a strong young marlin bullpen. has had success in first 2 seasons in majors

cons: folds under pressure. is of value to marlins so trade is unlikely

chances: unlikely

3.) chad cordero, 25 (washington nationals)
3-3, 3.36 era, 37 sv's, 64 k's in 2007

pros: good young closer who can succed billy wagner. great composure. has great tools to get guys out. will cost very little due to his terrilbe club

cons: WHO BE THE METS CLOSER IN 08 IF CORDERO COMES ABOARD?!

chances: unlikely

TOP RELIEVER

jonathon broxton, 23 (los angeles dodgers)
4-4, 2.85 era, 2sv's, 99k's in 2007

pros: amazing young pitcher with blazing stuff. strikeout machine.

cons: dodgers would be crazy to give him up.

chances : never gonna happen

well thats my mets 2008 wishlist lets hope we get somethin peace!!!!

mets get johnny estrada and my mets wishlist 2008 part 1: position players

well the mets finally get a catcher. the give relief pitcher guillerma mota to the brewers in exchange for johnny estrada

estrada,31 hit .278 with 10 hr's and 54 rbi's last year with the brewers so he's a solid pick up

in other news the mets signed castillo to a four year deal

castillo,32 hit .296 in his 50 games with the mets (he was acquired in a trade with the twins on july 31)

now that the holes at catcher and second base have been filled thier is one more position left: right field....... and ima list my fav picks at the position that i hope the mets can get here they are.

1.) Andre Ethier (current team: los angeles dodgers)
age: 25
2007 stats: .284 batting avg, 13 hrs and 64 rbi's in 153 games

pros: andre is young and has alot of talent, he's got a quick bat and plays great defense. he can fit perfectly in the mets line up in the 6th spot. he'll be good for years to come.

cons: he doesnt have the most power or is a big run producer and the chances of the dodgers offering him is probobly wont happen or if they due decide to trade him it will be too high a price to pay.

chances of aqcuiring: highly doubtful

2.) Jermaine dye (current team: Chicago white sox)
age:33
2007 stats: .254 batting avg, 28 hr and 78 RBI's in 134 games
pros: he did a great job in 06 with the sox. his 28 hr's show he still has some pop and his 78 RBI's show he can definately somewhat produce and with a move to the national league the veteran can probobly be more successful.he wont cost much in a trade.

cons: will be 34 next year so he's on the start of decline. his poor 07 season shows he might be declining already!, he only played in 138 games so injuries can be certain. his defense will get worse as he ages.

chances of acquiring: moderatly high

3.) Mark Cuddyer (current team: minnesota twins)
age: 28
2007 stats: .276 batting avg, 16 hr, 81 RBI in 144 games

pros: 81 rbis shows hes a good run producer and he's still young and can do better in the nl. wouldnt cost much in a trade

cons: dont know much about him. not much pop.

chances of acquiring: 50/50

4.) Nick Swisher (current team: oakland athletics)
age: 27
2007 stats: .262 avg, 22 hr's, 78 RBI's in 150 games
pros: has got many years ahead of him. is a pure power hitter and has alot of pop and drives in alot of runs (despite his numbers in 07). nl pitching will make him even more of a run producing machine. plays solid defense

cons: terrible contact hitter. relies soley on power which is a problem in need for small ball situations. can be a costly trade

chances of acquiring: doubtful

5.) ken griffey jr.
age: 38
2007 stats: .277 avg, 30 hr and 93 rbi's in 144 games
pros: is still an awesome hitter after all these years. still a great fielder at his age. is durable and wouldnt cost much to acquire. probobly wants his 600th homer and a championship now which is wut he can get with the mets.

cons: even though he is durable he will be 39 and wear and tear issues could occur. skills will diminsh as season progresses meaning the mets have to rest him more often

chances of acquiring: probable

TOP RIGHT FIELDER PROSPECT!!!!!!!!!

NICK MARKAKIS!!!!!!!!!
age: 24
2007 stats: .300 avg, 23 hr's and 112 RBI's in 161 games
pros: he's great in every category (AVG, POWER,SPEED, RUN PRODUCING,DEFENSE, u name it he's great at it). he's so young but so great.

cons: orioles trading him will never happen. ny atmosphere may pressure him.

chances of acquiring: never in a million years

well their u have it my top right fielders i think the mets should go for ill put part 2 pitchers up sometime this week PEACE!
