I know it's not an RTS but the Civilisation series is hands down the best empire building game I've ever played. It's turn based rather than RT but if you've ever played it you'll know that "one-more-turn-itis" is a real disease. Civ 4 is the latest and by far the most consuming...

HL2 is one of the best games I have ever played and no, it is not overrated.

The most compelling argument in HL2's favour is not the gameplay, the engine or the graphics but the fact that it spawned the fan comic "Concerned". If you haven't read through "Concerned", do yourself a favour and do so. :)

I game almost exclusively on the PC. I have an Xbox which has been modded to allow me to stream my electronic music to my stereo but the only games I use on the Xbox are the arcade emulators.

OFP is definitely the best combat simulator, period.

ArmA would be better than OFP but there are far too many bugs and it is a huge system hog.

If you want to upgrade OFP, get the ECP or FFUR mods. They update the textures and effects and make it look a lot better than the original build.

If you want the most challenging mission you will ever play on an FPS style game, download the "Abandoned Armies" mission from the OFP Editing Centre web site, that mission is awesome and takes about 24 hours of playing time to complete the single mission.

YMMV :)

It's better to have people think you're a fool than to pick up your keyboard and dispel all doubt.

Btw, does anyone remember that old developer...I think they were called DiD or something. They made a great F-22 game and a Eurofighter Typhoon gamemrbojangles25

Best DiD FS ever was "Tornado". I still haven't found a FS that modelled avionics so well. It was such a blast flying at 50ft AGL and 600kts to deliver bombs in coordination with other aircraft...

LFS or rFactor are great for online play, LFS is the easier of the two.

GTR2 is probably the best boxed race sim I've played recently and the in game car sounds are absolutely awesome.

Revisiting a much loved game is like catching up with an old girlfriend after 10 years: it's never the same as it was back then...

Mistake #1: Running vista

Mistake #2: Expecting games to run well on vista

The cotton tip and the monkey was my favourite part of monkey Island 1. :)
