Achievement Points and a Game I Can't Stand - The Rant of a Madman

Since I can't afford to buy new games, the only way for me to improve my gamer score is to earn achievement points for games I already have, in particular XBLA games. That being said, most of my XBLA games are from the 1st few batches of XBLA games, you know when the achievement points were freaking hard to earn, which is whay I didn't have them in the first place.

1 game that really pissed me off is Hexic HD. It really is a terrible game, but I want the achievement points, this game is both crap and hard, which isn't a good combination, I set out to earn 2 achievements, collect 1m points across all games, and complete 100 games, they were easy enough to get, but goddamn they take freaking ages. I can't believe this is from the same guy who made Tetris, what the hell was he thinking making this monstrosity. Good news though, I managed to get 4 achievements out of it, which gives a total of 9 (since I already had 5 to begin with). Theres 3 achievements left, but I don't wanna put myself through that again.

So next a wanna tackle Marble Blast Ultra. This game is pretty decent, but it get pretty boring pretty quickly, but atleast its bearable.

After that, its back to Battlefield 2: MC. Most of the achievements I have to get in this game are online achievements. I don't mind that so much, but why they hell did they have to make them so hard, I mean "Kill 10 people, without dying". How are supposed to do that, people tend to shoot back, plus everytime you kill someone it gives away your current position, which means you have to move, and most likely get killed along the way. The only way I can think of to get those achievements is by way of the cheeky, but I don't know enough people with the game to do that.

I really don't mind hard achievements, Infact its good they make you work for your points. I just hate achievements that are so ridiculously hard that they're not worth bothering with. Or the ones that just take absolutely forever to unlock. Surely the people who make these games must be aware that gamers aren't known for out patience

Geometry Wars: 1m Without Dying. DONE

Yeah I know, theres people who done this ages ago, but still 1 million points without dying is the hardest achievement there is in Geometry Wars and one of the hardest achievements I've come across in any game. So yeah, I feel the need to brag just a little bit, cos I've finally done it. I've gotten all 12 achievements now the only thing left for me to do is beat K4rn4ge's 360,360,600 and then I'd have the number 1 score in the world.

Watcha Doin? Keepin Busy

So anyway, since my last blog. I've sent my short movie off to some film festivals around the world. Its currently under consideration at 3 of them. Which is great news, god willing it would make it in.

I directed and edited a music video for a UK hip hop and RnB artist called God Knows. If all goes well it could be on TV next month

I was playing God of War again. I've already beaten the game on normal and hard difficulty. So I thought I'd treat myself and play it on easy. I wanted to see how fast I could get through the game and my time was 5 hours and 23 minutes.

I got my Nintendo Wii on launch day, I like the fact that I was amongst the first people in the UK to get one. But the first few months to a year of any console release can be pretty boring. Its true what they say, the best things come to those who wait. But of course, those who wait don't get it on release day, and cos of that lose bragging rights

So anyway, I've been playing Geometry Wars Evolved, which I think is one the best games (not just arcade, games in general) available on the Xbox 360. It took me more than a year, but I have finally unlocked the 10x multiplier achievement, now all I have left to unlock is 1million points without dying. I almost did it. I got to 995,000 and died which is litterally 1 or 2 shots away. At that point I yelled a pretty loud Sonova(against gs t&c). But at least I know I'm getting better at it.

Filming. Done

I started and finished filmin my short movie today, i gotta edit it all together.. i took some promo pics though which you can see here

Game On - History of Video Games

Wassup fellers and lady fellers

I haven't been too active in the forums lately for various reasons. The main one is that I've been busy with my next short movie, I'm currently in pre-production and God willing, I'll start filming on the 20th of November

Anyway, yesterday I went along to the Game On exhibition at the Science Museum in London. It was pretty cool, they showcased some pretty ancient gaming devices, plus I got to whoop a few people at Street Fighter II

The Millionairs Club

After about 8 months I've finally joined the millionairs club, I got a new high score on Geometry Wars Evolved of 1 million 3 hundred and something thousand.

I know thats no where near the worlds best score, but it took me long time to break 1 million, so i'm a little proud of it

The 411

Well, I decided to cancel my total access subsciption with gamespot. I know its not a lot of money, it just doesn't seem like its worth it any more, since the main reason I joined was for GameCenter which no longer exists and all the benefits, it seems they're giving away good enough versions for free. So whats the point.

My subscription doesn't end until March 2007, so I'd retain the benefits until then and who knows maybe by then I'd have reason to rejoin but I guess we just have to wait and see

70 hours in 2 Weeks - World of Warcraft

Some of you already know that I've been playing World of Warcraft recently. Well I started playing 2 weeks ago and have already clocked up 70 hours play time. Thats almost 3 days of my life I have spent running around a virtual world. And there is still so much to do. I guess games like this you never really "complete".

Out of Africa

I'm back home in London, South Africa was great, but I'm glad to be back. Back to pollution, over priced products and services.. ahh, home sweet home.
