That's kinda what I hear at TV.com nowadays. Did the latest glitch permanently send everyone away for good?. It's really sad when I think back to how this place used to be. Hopefully, more people will be back and things will pick up.
John Hughes Video Tributes + New Countdowns!!
by Barrybgb on Comments
I'm still in disbelief over the passing of John Hughes. I have found a few great tributes to his films. Both are different, and both are phenomenal. The second one really has a better look at some of his work, but the other is equally fantastic. I will admit that both got me a bit misty ey....er, no, no, it was just...just...something in my eye!. Yeah, that's right!.

In honor of John, I will be doing a John Hughescountdown listnext. I have a few others in the works too. :)
R.I.P. John Hughes
by Barrybgb on Comments
As a child of the 80s, and having a deep love/passion for the decade, this has floored me into disbelief.
John Hughes, writer/director/producer, has passed away from a heart attack while walking in Manhattan, where he was visiting family. He was 59 years old.
John Hughes wrote "Mr.Mom" and "National Lampoon's Vacation", and then came his specialty. The teen film. John either wrote or wrote and directed "Sixteen Candles", "The Breakfast Club", "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", "Pretty In Pink", "Weird Science" and "Some Kind Of Wonderful". In addition to the teen films, he also did "Planes, Trains And Automobiles", "Uncle Buck", "The Great Outdoors", "Home Alone", and "Home Alone 2".
His output got less and less as the 90's went on until he became a virtual recluse.
John Hughes wrote a part of my childhood that I have always and will always cherish. Most of his movies in the 80s were prominent fixtures in my growing up, and I am thankful for it. He will be missed.
Fires, Tornados, And Weddings, OH MY!!!
by Barrybgb on Comments
First off, I am glad that everything seems to be working again. Having just got back and in touch with all the friends I had made here, I was absolutely sick thinking that maybe it was all over again!. Luckily, I'm still here!. Lol.
FIRES - Summer is fire season, and it's been pretty dangerous here. Temps are now mostly in the 90's, and we've had some dry lightning. There are two huge pine trees in my backyard, and the roof is covered with pine needles. A huge fire hazard. A friend told me I have to get those off pronto!. I have never been on the roof, so this would be interesting. Others thought so too, because family and friends were setting up cameras and folding chairs for the "show". Thankfully, it went well, now if only my neighbors would pick up their junk pile they throw over their back fence onto the side of their house, next to my garage, would clean up!. Neighbors, I tell ya...
TORNADO - We don't get them here, but one was spotted about 45 minutes from where I live the other day. It was a big thing. BREAKING NEWS coming in on the TV. Everyone was sure this was going to be a big thing, and some were ducking for cover. No need. It didn't get far. Some damage a few towns over, but that's about it.
WEDDING - This saturday is my oldest nieces' wedding. It's outside in a rose garden devoid of trees or shade of any kind. The weather for tomorrow?. Nearing 100 with overcast skies. So, it will be HOT HOT HOT, and with the clouds, really humid. Should be fun!.
So, this is what I have been busy with here lately. Not exciting, but there is so little you can do when it is so hot. I don't have air condition in the house or car. It's well over 80 in the house when I go to bed at night. Is it October yet?.
Also, I did an 80s movie countdown a while back that was a lot of fun. I plan on doing something on the decade again. In the meantime, if you are an 80s fan, I found a great forum at http://www.fanforum.com/f129/ It's a fun thread that is in need of more posters. :)

So, What's The Deal?
by Barrybgb on Comments
With TV.com?. This glitch has lasted a long time!. I wonder when it will be fixed?.
In the meantime, if you want to post a blog or whatever, you should all go to MovieTome or gamespot.com. You are already a part of it and can post there. It will show up on TV.com. You probably already know that. Anyways, just something to do while waiting for TV.com to be fixed.

TV Is Awful Nowadays....
by Barrybgb on Comments
I used to be a TV addict. Loved it. But lately, my growing concern/hatred for the CW has now grown to overall TV in general. Whereas I have written about how awful the CW is and that it's mostly the same thing over and over, the same can be said for a good deal of all TV. Basically, if you want to watch TV, you better love doctors, lawyers, and cops/detectives/private investigators/special agents/forensic investigators and, worst of all, reality. There is a lot of horrid trash on TV today, and the other is a lot of the same thing. I have never been one for the typical network dramas or procedurals. Never. Growing up, there were tons of shows. There was variety and creativity. They may not all of lasted, or were even good(a lot were), but they were there and the networks tried.
I hate hearing "hip" and "edgy". If I hear "edgy" or "demographic", I am going to scream!. I am down to only about 2 shows I regularly watch. Just 2 hours. A few short years ago it was probably 8-10 hours a week. I have never been one to watch what everybody else watches or is talking about, except for the cooler than cool stuff on the WB.Good dramas that don't include guns or bed pans are few and far between. Good comedies, be it traditional sitcoms, family sitcoms, or dramadies(Gilmore Girls, anyone?)seem to have vanished. And my beloved WB has been turned into the wretched CW, where pretty young people with problems rule. The only difference among those shows is that some are wealthy and some are not.
I am very bored with everyone trying to top each other with who is edgier and hipper and rolling out the same kind of shows. Anyone else?. Where has TV gone, and will it come back?.
