LOL, I just looked at the list of most popular PC games currently on Gamespot and WH40k Space Marine is in 6th place while Rage is in 9th! LOL!! Here's the link: LINK

Looks like people are finally realizing that Rage is nothing more than another Quake/Doom game set in a Post Apoc setting.

Inconsistancy

WH40k Space Marine's "hack 'n slash" mechanics are much more varied than the average run-of-the-mill hack 'n slash game. This is obvious just by watching a few gameplay videos. The game has shooting, chainsaws, hammers, jetpacks involved, special abilities, slow-motion, etc. On the other hand, Rage is nothing but shoot this, run, shoot that, drive, shoot this, run, shoot that, and so on and so forth.

And for your information, I like FPS games very much, but they have to be made well. The Bioshock games and Metro 2033 are just some examples of very well made FPS games, and Dead Island looks like an excellent FPS horror game as well.

The gameplay looks as in depth as pong and the AI looks uninspiring.

If WH40k Space Marine looks like Pong, then Rage looks like a steaming pile of monkey cr@p.

This is the game that pretty much defined the FPS genre. Doom 1 , Doom 2, Wolfenstein, Quake 1, 2 and 3... none of those were exceptional? This is a studio that has completely re-invented the computer game industry more than once.

All those games were mediocre at best. Doom 3 was the only really exceptional id game. Saying that id is a great developer because they may have invented the FPS genre is illogical thinking. Yes, id was very innovative many years ago, but the innovative games they made were really just mediocre. Afterwards, Epic came along and vastly improved the FPS genre with their Unreal Engine. Unreal games have always been far superior to wolfenstein/quake/doom games, and I don't care what critics said.
