Battlefield 2

This game has been sucking up my free time immensely lately heh. I absolutely loved the Battlefield 1942 series; including both expansions, and now am infatuated with the newest edition to the Battlefield title... Battlefield 2.

The new features to this game are very fun and create a much more indept appeal to modern combat FPS gaming. The Commander mode allows you to call for artillery strikes, deploy UAV scanning, satellite scans, and deploy ammo/repair/health supply to your squads & troops as well as repair items. Very sweet addition indeed.

The squad based aspects are nice as well and really fuel the desire to actually contribute to TEAMWORK; a much needed and desireable aspect many wish happened more often in online games today. As a squad leader, you can send out various orders to your squad members such as attacking a control point, repairs needed at a point, demolitions needed, etc. This also works together for squads to accumulate team points for better stat improvement and gameplay.

The online stats/profle is a very unique and welcomed feature as well. This allows players to strive for specific goals, weapon unlocks, rank increase, and general statistical data gathering on a player's skills and play history.

Even though I do still have an OLD system that I cannot believe even RUNS this game, it runs pretty smoothly on this outdated system on low settings. Considering the fact that I have older ram and only 896mb of it, a CPU well below the minimum requirements, and a videocard that just barely meets below the minimum requirements, I am still surprised the game runs as well as it does on low settings. Of course I am working at purchasing parts one by one for a complete new system and it will be quite some time until that is complete; 3-5 months estimated, I am thoroughly pleased with the gameplay I have experienced in Battlefield 2 thus far.

This game is definitely one of my favorites now, and will most likely be one of my all-time favorites like the Battlefield 1942 series is. So if you haven't played this game yet; and have a fairly updated system, try out the multiplayer demo and/or go buy the game. If you liked Battlefield 1942, I'm sure you'll like this game then :). Have fun, and keep fraggin :P

My New Years

Well... all I'm gonna say is, I got FOOOOOOKED UP that night haha :p Happy New Years you silly wankers.

My xmas

Well, christmas was ok. Got a crapload of towels, washcloths, dishtowels, dishcloths, a bathtub mat, a shower curtain, a Uniden 2.4 ghz cordless phone, some t-shirts, some socks, a fuzzy blanket, and some various small gift certificates. I didn't expect much; told my parents to concentrate their spending on their 3 grandchildren. Oh boy, lemme tell ya. Those 3 monsters; 10 yr old, 4 yr old, and 3 yr old, were SPOILED ROTTEN with gifts AGAIN this year. So many toys, that I do not doubt that within a month or so, most of them will be lost, broken, or screwed up in some way. These 3 demon-kids are seriously the spawn of satan I think. They were yelling, screaming, whining, mouthing off, and being royal pains in the ole jolly ass for my parents as well as my sister haha. Thank god I can't have kids now... cause after seeing the way those 3 acted this holiday season, I'd frag myself if I ever had a kid THAT undisciplined heh. All in all, an ok christmas. At least I got to stuff myself with a full turkey dinner haha.

Hardware issues...

This royally sucks. Two of my external harddrives; one firewire and one USB, have failed on me after several years of usage. Hoping my tech buddy can somehow save the data on them or access it at least to be able to back it up. If not, I'm screwed :( This really ticks me off. If anyone is gracious enough to wanna lend me a hand by donating a contribution to replace these two items, please do: PayPal - rhartl@new.rr.com . Thank you in advance if you do contribute. Anything is helpful and appreciated.

Games I want to play...

With all the upcoming games out there that I want to play, I fear I won't be able to play many of them due to this outdated, ancient PC I have. Here's a list of some of them I want/wish to play: ================================================= Half Life 2 of course Halo 2 Battlefield 2 Men of Valor Tribes: Vengeance Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas That's all that I can think of offhand. I seriously need a new PC badly :(

Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude

Hilariously entertaining videogame. I've been a fan of the LSL games since game 1, and this is definitely a long awaited game-style. Breaking out of it's previous 2D format into the 3D realm of gaming, they definitely did a good job on this one. One complaint I do have is the quality of the cutscenes. Very pixelated & choppy... they could have used a better video format or something to reduce the grainy, novice appearance of the videos. The content of the video cutscenes was ace, but poor execution of displaying those videos. I am kind of ticked to find out that now they released an UNCUT & UNCENSORED version of the game :(. Bastards... should have just mixed it all together and maybe had some goal of finishing the game in the normal mode to unlock the uncut & uncensored version then. Another method of raping the gaming consumer market out of more money obviously. All in all, an excellent game for the perverted-minded individuals out there in the world; which is probably 2/3 of the gamers out there heh.

Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (PC)

Just installed this game last night, and seeing as how I never played the first Underground game, I'm enjoying it a lot so far. The graphics & audio are as usual nicely done in this game as it's previous predecessors. I like this storymode they have in it. Offers a bit of a twist to the classic mode; which they also include in this game. The skaters though to me, look a bit shrunken or something. Kind of a different appearance than in the THPS series. Although that's not significantly a huge change, it did catch my eye. Pretty cool how you can also take a picture of yourself and superimpose it onto your own created skater. This was a bit tedious to get your face image to blend together properly with skin color and alignment, but it's a nice small new addition to say the least. I haven't tried the multiplayer aspect of it, but from what I hear, it offers a nice addition as well. Up to 8 players can play together online in various game-type modes. Curious if this will allow the use of custom created skateparks then into the whole online play aspect. All in all, I'm liking this game a lot so far. I've been a fan of the THPS series since the beginning, and this is a nice improvement and route that the game is expanding into. The mix of humorous shenaningans from Bam Margera and other misfits in the storymode adds a nice touch to the whole 'World Destruction Tour' scenario the storymode presents. Anyone else play this yet and would care to share their input/review of it here as well? :)

Starwars Battlefront

This is a game I seriously need a new PC for :(. It ran on this oldass 733mhz system I have, but I had to have all the video & audio settings to low. Leaving the game dull appearing in comparison to how it SHOULD look and be played. I gotta build me a new system soon. I'm missing out on a lot of visual features and luster in newer games. Hell, I can't even RUN Far Cry on this pc, and thats one game a LOT of buddies have been ranting on about. Same goes for Men of Valor. I downloaded the MP demo, installed it, and it wouldn't run on this old dinosaur :( That looks like one hell of a game too. Various videos I downloaded both from Gamespot here as well as the game's website, really showed one hell of a sweet game. P.S. Send me donations to buy a new PC :P hehe

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

Just saw the gamespot page as well as the website for Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. I cannot wait for that game. I thoroughly enjoyed the first KOTOR immensely. It seems like there isn't too many new features, but more improvements on current features from the 1st game. I do like how it sounds like it will continue the storyline and offer a vast amount of environments and worlds to explore throughout the game. This will be a definite 'must-play' game for me :).
