First update in forever...

Man, it's been a while sinceI posted here. Mainly because I haven't been on Gamespot much; I've actually been playing games.

Lots of things have happened. I got Rogue Galaxy, but I don't really play it anymore (starting to get dull). I got Valkyrie Profile 2, awesomely fun, but I'm having trouble as I've got too many characters to level up. I've been playing KOF '98, always fun, and Melty Blood. Gosh, that game's awesome.

And then I recently got Lunar Knights (Boktai 4), for the DS, my first actual DS game (oh yeah, I got a black DS Lite for Easter). Pretty fun, but I've largely been saving it for a trip I'm going on in a few days.

I've gotten a crazy third-party ps2 controller, and a crazy third-party gc controller (I hate third-party controllers, but my wallet was having issues:it was almost empty).

Tomorrow is the SSBM tournament. Yay! Only I'm not sure how I'll do... haven't practiced in a while. Can't wait for Brawl to come out.

Oh, and my Wiimote hasn't been working for some reason, for the longest time. I really need to send it in, but I've been lazy.

I've also been playing Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst, for the PC. Awesome game, I can play it with friends, and with people online. It's free to download from Sega's website, and you can connect to the free fanserver. I'm at level 31.

That's my short, sweet, and to the point update, the first for half a year (too much school, grr). Let's hope that my latest gaming ventures (Lunar Knights, PSOBB), will go well. I'll get to play SSBM, KOF, and Soul Calibur II and III with some friends of mine; however, one of them only likes SSBM out of those, and he like FPS games (I dislike them, mostly).

This has been a necro-update from Belegorm (thought I was dead, didn't ya? didn't ya? lol

P.S. It's been so long that I forgot something: I got a Sega Genesis! I've been having a lot of fun playing Sonic 1 and 2, and Marble Madness. My mom got it at a garage sale. The thing that makes me mad, though, is that apparently, they also had FFIX for $2... grrr!

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Yahoo!  Got TLoZ: TP, the Wii version (it was the day after Christmas, so the GC version was sold out, so I my mind was made up for me).  I'm now more than 27 hours in, in the Snowpeak Mansion.

I haven't had much of a chance to play any other game than it (so I haven't played Medieval 2: Total War, or practiced with KOF 2000, leading to several bad defeats from my friend).

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve, and I'm getting together with my grandparents, and will open my Christmas presents from them.  I know for a fact I'm getting Golden Sun!

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, from Belegorm!

I've got a Wii!

Ah yes, Christmas.  My favorite time of year.  The whole season (we're Catholic, so we've made a season of it, which are the twelve days of Christmas).

Apart from stockings (we usually open our stockings on Dec. 6th, St. Nicholas' Day, but we didn't this year; most interesting thing I got in mine was a $10 Best Buy gift certificate), well, all my wrapped presents were Wii-related.

I got the Wii, a stand for it with storage, a 512 MB SD card, a grip thing for the Wiimote that I'm not planning on using, a classic controller, and... an extra Nunchuk?  Apparently when my dad was in line, some lady told him "You've got to get an extra Nunchuk!  It's important!"  so my dad, who didn't know, got an extra Nunchuk, though I've only got the Wiimote and Nunchuk that it came with.  Oh well, least that means that I'll have one around when I get another Wiimote.

No games yet, unfortunately (aside from Wii Sports, of course), but I'm getting Twilight Princess today.

I've got it linked to the Net, and while I haven't done anything with the Virtual Console yet (need some more money...), I've downloaded the free Opera browser, and it's actually quite serviceable.  I've also checked the weather (said it'd rain, didn't know it'd really rain quite THAT much...

Made a couple Miis, one of myself, and one weird guy that I intended to look Japanese.

I'm planning on letting my family members make their own Miis (my mom and sister love the Wii), but if they don't, I'll just make caricatures of them.

I've got to decide which I want:  The GC version of TP, or the Wii version!  My mom wants me to get the Wii version ("Why'd you get the Wii anyway, if you're gonna get the Gamecube version?"), but I'm still not sure.  Who knows.  I'll probably spend twenty minutes at Best Buy deciding.

This has been an update from Belegorm, Merry Christmas all.

Pitiful Parent...

Regarding the recent kid collared for GBA infraction, which can be read in GS' news, here's my post in the forum:

Alright let's get this straight.  The grandmother's 67, and the mother's 27.  So that means she was born when her mother was 40... guess maybe the grandma got started late in life; but that's still alright.

Now, the mother's 27, and the kid's 12... now that means that the mom was 15 when he was born!  What does that tell you!  Plus, there's never a father mentioned anywhere, so we can conclude he was a child born outside of marriage, to a single teenage mom, with an already really old grandma.

Now, the mom most likely had absolutely no idea of how to bring up a kid, while still being in high school, moreover, she's gotten pregnant in the first place, doesn't say anything very good for her character.  I was born when my mom was in her early 20's, and didn't have a father for a couple of years, and she didn't apparently know how to parent right - OWW!  *Mom glances over shoulder and sees what I've been typing*, sorry Ma.  Luckily for me, I turned out okay (or did I... yep, I did).

Now, the fact is, that if the boy's been doing all these things, that speaks a bit of the parent.  She has no idea what she's doing, or how to take the belt to the kid (Spare the rod and spile the child), and so, predictably, when he does something that angers her old mom, she calls the police, even though he eventually did give it back, and she'd said she wouldn't call if he'd just do that (that's dishonesty right there).

Now, a for a criminal offence, I could see her calling the police, definately, but for opening a Christmas present her "solution" to the problem is utterly ridiculous, and I don't believe she has a very good idea of what she's doing, and probably simply has no idea of what to do.

What would have been better in this situation?  Perhaps literally taking the belt, but more likely, taking away privilages would have been better.  Though, I don't think he probably has that many privilages, anyway.  I mean, really, she's a single, 27-old-mom, who had her kid when she was 15 (I'm actually 16, and can't remember ever having a kid, or ever being put into a situation where I might have had one), and her own mom, probably poor as well, got him a GBA for Christmas.  Last time I checked the original GBA (which is what I presume he was getting), costs $20 at Gamestop, probably less in other places.  Which definately gives me the idea that, along with the other evidence, that the family is poor, both the mom, kid, and grandma.

Anyway, back to privilages.  I'd say, obviously, take away TV for a long while, what gaming he has, and probably returning the GBA to the store (maybe the next Christmas, or birthday, actually get him a DS if she can afford it).  Of course, ground him from going out, obviously.

Logic... why don't they teach logic in these schools?  The above deductions were quite simple.  What do they teach in these lame public schools nowadays, anyway (oh yeah that's right, I go to one; they don't teach many useful things).

So... wait a minute!  You're all asleep!  I'll never forgive you for falling asleep in my rant... yawn... uhm... G'Night, mommy...

*Rise'n Shine!*  Hmm, interesting rant of mine, apparently.  Don't remember writing it.  Guess I'll stick it into my blog, so I won't forget it.

Blog note:  I found my own deductions so interesting, that I decided to post them in my blog, just to be able to remember them.

This has been a rant from Belegorm.

P.S.  Did I mention in my last blog I got a Turkey Day emblem?  I did, cool.  I'll need to check back on GS for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.  Maybe I'd get an emblem for being on GS when the new year comes, but I'd rather watch the ball drop... maybe I'll leave the computer on GS.

The King of Fighters is: Me! (not quite)

Hehe, I just bought a couple of games from Gamecrazy.  This is new for me, as I've always gone to Gamestop, because I'd always thought that they'd had a much better selection.

That turned out to be not the case.  While Gamestop has a better selection of current-gen titles, Gamecrazy still sells older games (though most of them aren't too good, unfortunately).

I signed up for an MVP membership.  SSBM tournaments, January, here I come!

Anyways, I got The King of Fighters: 2000/2001, and Viewtiful Joe (plus, I'm definately getting Golden Sun for Christmas).

Viewtiful Joe is alright, though I haven't been really into it, and because of that, I'm stuck on the first level.

Now, KOF 00/01 is AWESOME!  I really like fighting games, especially old-school 2D ones.  A friend of mine, named David, and I play Capcom vs. SNK 2, and KOF '99 pretty often these days (in addition to SSBM, and Soul Calibur II and III, though we're more into the 2D ones).  Both I and him want to get KOF 02/03, we'll have five years worth of KOF to play.  I'd also like a Samurai Shodown, or a The Last Blade game, but the only options at present are Samurai Shodown V for the Xbox (and I don't have an Xbox, and though Dave does, SSV is supposed to stink), Samurai Shodown for the NGPC (again, I don't have one, though he does, and it isn't too good).  Also, there's The Last Blade for the NGPC (don't have the NGPC, but while it's good, it's a little handheld fighter), and The Last Blade 2, for Dreamcast (I don't have a DC, and while The Last Blade 2 for DC is supposed to be great, I obviously can't get it without a DC).

KOF 00/01 is annoying in that almost all unlockables are achieved by going through the "Party Mode" (misleading term), which is really just a rather lame one-player, one-character, Survival mode, and this is so for both games.  The matches don't really start getting tough until about after 80 rounds (this is tedious, and takes forever).

The really annoying thing, is that I took awhile to get through 95 matches in '01 (unlocking quite a few things; hidden striker characters, arcade versions of the stages).  After this, I died, finally running out of HP.  Now, in order to unlock more, I'm going to have to go through all that again, and do more.

I'd also like to unlock stuff in '00 as well, as it contains all the intros for the KOF games '94 through '99 (obviously '00 and '01 already have their intros), so I'll have the intros for almost all the games; will be fun to watch.

I hope I can actually get into some matches with Dave soon.

BTW, I'm supposed to be getting a Wii for Christmas, but I don't think I'll actually get one for Christmas.

Yggdra Union is out!  I need $30!  (was $10 away from getting it, but I was impatient, didn't want to wait, so I went with KOF and VJ).

I recently started playing this free, client-based MMORPG called Goonzu.  Believe me, it's really fun, and actually quite deep, considering the politics, and everything.

I subscribed to Nintendo Power!

BTW, I'm now level 20 on GS, with almost 1,000 posts, with four emblems: Registered Member (duh), World Cup Fanatic (what?), After Hours: Virtually There (not), and the new one: Turkey Day (what's that supposed to mean?  What the heck is Turkey Day?  jk).

This has been another update on my gaming life from yours truly, Belegorm (huge one this time).  If you're reading this, plz, leave a comment, so I can see that someone actually has read it!

Now playing the 12th, Final (not yet), Fantasy

Just got FFXII for my birthday.  Really fun, though I'm not a FF fanboy (believe me, I'd rather have had Twilight Princess, or Yggdra Union, Valkyrie Profile 2, or Okami, or others, but TP and YU aren't released yet, and FFXII is the one I got for my birthday (for some reason, my parents have this preference for FF more than other, even less-magic filled, games).

Still, it's undoubtedly a great game, and I'm having fun.  I kind of miss the good ol' days, with turn-based battles, but I've gotten used to the new battles (but I really miss the old victory fanfare!!!).

The music is really great, even though it's mostly composed by a different guy than Nobue.  However, this is kind of good, as the new dude is at far less liberty to change the music in any significant way, so much of the music is reorchestrated music from the old games (I haven't heard the victory fanfare yet though!).  Where Nobue might have done music more like FFX (which was good, but I liked the kind of stirring music from the old games), in FFXII, you've got the old prelude music for the intro, followed by the main theme of FF, on the main menu (neither of which was present in FFX, to my sadness).

I'm working through it, it's great fun.

BTW, I've also been playing FF:CC with some friends.  Never played it before, but it's really fun.  I'm set to go over one's house tomorrow.

Also, I'm now level 20, with like 900 or so posts.

This has been your update on my gaming life (the only gaming life worth mentioning in my blog.

P.S.  BTW, did I mention my birthday was Tuesday?  (Nov. 7th).  I got FFXII (well, duh, if you've been reading).

Unfortunately, I've got to put my birthday money towards my Christmas present, a Nintendo Wii.

Virtually Not There

Heh, just got a new emblem.  Apparently, I was virtually at the Afterhours thing.

Thing is, I really only checked on it, just for a minute or two, then I went back to watching Ranma 1/2.

Still, a new emblem is really cool.

BTW, I'm not level 19 (58%), and have something like 850 posts, or so.

'Nother micro-update from Belegorm.

Heh heh, little mistake in last post...

Well, you know that I said that I had all the AoEs?  Well, forgot about Age of Empires: The Age of Kings DS.

And Age of Empires III: The Warchiefs Expansion is coming out soon.

Plus, there's the Age of Mythology spinnoffs, but they don't really count.

(This has been an even shorter micro-update from Belegorm).

AoE II again!

Well, I don't have time for a very long blog here (I have to leave for school in like 9 minutes), but I'll speak of some things.

First, as I said, I recently started going to school, while I've been homeschooled for pretty much my whole life.

Also, my mom bought me Age of Empires II: Gold Edition.  I'd used to have this, but I missed it.  I almost got Rome: Total War Gold instead, but I chose AoE.  Now I've got all the AoEs!

Unfortunately, for some reason, the game music hasn't been working, which is a pity as I really used to like the music.

This has been a short, bare-boned report from Belegorm.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Cool, I'm now level 15, "Nobunaga's Ambition" (which, by the way, sounds like a cool old game), and I've got like over 700 posts.

So, recently I went to summer camp.  It was fun (though unfortunately, no gaming), and I'm not really going to go into detail.

However, when I got back, I found that my parents had found this cabinet on the side of the road.  In it, they found some junk that they got rid of, a pair of scissors, and, a Nintendo 64.  Yep, that's right.

It has all the cables, a controller, and three games (though I want a memory pak too).

Two of the games my parents gave me at once, Wipeout 64 and Diddy Kong Racing (both of which are only "Fair").

However, today, my mom pulled The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time out of one of the cabinet's drawers.  She hated Zelda ("witchcraft, she says), but since this is free, she decided to give it a chance; though she's going to watch me play part of the time.  I hope she keeps an open mind, and doesn't hold to her preconceived notions.

I'm currently on my way to Goron City.

Also, on a sidenote, I've been getting somewhat into Japanese anime and manga.  Sailor Moon looks interesting.

This has been a happy update from Belegorm, newest N64 owner.
