If she understands basic english (and can read it), then she can handle the game, I recommend purchasing Diamond or Pearl (Diamond is my personal favorite, it just brings different Pokemon than Pearl, thats all).

Okay, for games I recommend the following:

1. Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (a MUST HAVE if you're into RPG's, this will come out in 1-2 days, its amazing in my opinion [from past experience with its prequels, and you don't have to play the other ones to understand this one).

2. The World Ends With You (another RPG MUST HAVE)

3. New Super Mario Bros.

In the case of accessories, I bought the headset (I think that the games that mostly use it are the Pokemon ones, but present [and eventually future] games should use the microphone features of the headset (I like it, its fun to use while playing DS games), but if you're not into video games that use the microphone then don't buy it (unless you're like me and like the cool feeling of wearing it, its a nice accesory in my opinion).

I also recommend that you purchase a good case for your DS and screen protectors (at least one for the bottom screen if you use the stylus a lot and are afraid of scratching it).

Hope this helps, Sincerely:

-V

I recommend you read the reviews for it and then see if its your playing genre/style that you enjoy, if so, then by all means buy it.

I also want to play "FFIV" as well but I'm looking forward to FF Tactics A2 more (sorry but I've already played FFIV, its amazing, and I really wanna try it out in 3d, but Tactics is just too good to resist ^_^, but next one I buy after A2 is IV).

Really Really Looking Forward to It! Sincerely:

-V

I enjoyed the skills system, it brought an innovative and nice touch to the gameplay and battle systems all together, it also blends in with the class selections, but thats just my opinion, I recommend that all players play it (not just for two hours, play it for a while) then decide if it's for them or not.

I think its a fun idea/concept and who knows, maybe Nintendo in the future will make it so it's available for use via Wi-Fi, but I think its a nice feature for the DS, it really is up to the person (its for the eye of the beholder) to find the PictoChat useful or not, I like it.

I'm not gonna reveal my age, but I will say that adults have the same right to enjoy playing video games (its absolutely NOTHING to be embarrassed about). I've been playing video games since the GB (Game Boy), Genesis, Atari, NES, and others after it, and I love them all, each person has their own taste and hobbies, video games happen to be one of the biggest ones, so I say it again: video games are for anyone (depending on the rating of course, but I speak of playing video games).

Sincerely:

-V

Its currently my favorite DS title (soon to be replaced with "Final Fantasy Tactics A2" [coming out June 24th]), its an RPG MUST HAVE. Its really incredible, I reviewed the game, check the reviews and you should find mine there. Its really amazing, I HIGHLY reccomend it!
