I tried to buy FEAR 2 today, but I had some trouble. The first store I went to asked for an ID since they didn't want to sell it to people under 18. I showed mine and she saw that I wasn't turning 18 until the 4th of May. Apparently that store is on a strict diet of Jack Thompson propaganda, because I left the store empty-handed and ridiculed. The next store I went to kept all the copies of FEAR in some weird bootleg-like black boxes instead of the cool green ones we 360 owners love, so I didn't even bother. I have SOME standards.
I then went to one of my favorite stores (in regards to price, and age-checking of course!), Elkjøp, and looked for it there. As always when a high-profile game comes out, they had a seperate stand for it with loads of copies. Except, these were all copies of FEAR 1 and FEAR Files! What the hell? They apparently managed to mess up the shipment and ordered the wrong FEAR games... or perhaps it was an evil scheme to sell those games to unsuspecting consumers who were looking for the new FEAR game? Either way, that sucked... I'll try again later, but I'm fine for now with Lost and Damned coming out soon and the new game I got to borrow;
Medal of Honor: Airborne. I remember playing the demo a lot. I am a fan of WWII games, and although MoH games usually suck, I quite enjoy this one. There's a big problem with the character animations - enemies seem to dodge and turn to evade bullets, but it's really just because the AI is dumb and the transition between animations is poor. Still, I like the presentation, the wobble effect the camera makes and especially the weapon upgrade system. Just kill enough people with a weapon, and the weapon is upgraded with everything from dual magazines to a grenade launcher. You can put a grenade launcher on your scoped Springfield. YOU CAN PUT A GRENADE LAUNCHER ON YOUR SCOPED SPRINGFIELD.
Most WWII games try and be über-realistic, so it's nice to see that this one focuses a bit more on being fun. I mean... "Nazi Storm Elites" carrying MG42s? Awesome.
