A friend of mine just got a 360. I'm a PC gamer. I know Shadowrun is basically dead, but it seems like the only other cross-platform (360 & PC) game I can find is Universe at War. So, anyone know any good games being developed that will feature PC/360 cross-compatability?

Thanks!

I'm all about getting a good deal, but some people are so extreme about that kind of thing. It's just STUFF, people! You don't win anything when you die with the most toys.

I agree that there a lot of "cheap, no dignity people" in the US. I think it's kind of sad that there are so many rude, obnoxious, narcissistic, egotistical people. And it's even sadder that many of these people are encouraged and influenced to act this way through TV, advertising, and music. I saw an ad the other day for a sidekick phone where the premise is a guy looking up info to lie to a chick to impress her. Message: "lie to impress girls to get affection." WTF!? Whatever happened to just being nice?

When after talking to someone you think, "woah, thye have a really complicated dialog tree."

When you start wondering what the real life equivalent of leveling up is.

After you recieve a notice that your utility costs will go up, you send off an angry letter telling them to capture more resource points and build power generators on slag deposits.

When you've finally convinced yourself that there really is a dopefish.

When you realize that when you talk about video games, people don't understand a word of what you're saying. (ie: "So I noticed that the script's set variable function was messed up, so I kept executing it over and over to get more gold." re: Oblivion's Count of Skingrad gold exploit)

When you install all of your games into a master folder entitled, WASTED TIME. (really, that's where all of my games are installed)

KOTOR 2 and NWN2 were pretty much better than their predecessors in almost all respects.(Exceptions being KOTOR 2's story and NWN 2's bad camera and sometimes finicky AI)

onemic

I dunno. I mean, KoTOR II had some excellent high points, especially being able to become a Jedi Master or Sith Lord and do some epic leveling. But (as you mentioned) the story kind of failed.

I don't know why so many people trash NWN2. I actually liked NWN2 a lot. There were some qualms for me (mostly the toolset and being somewhat lackluster on the visual customization). Where I think NWN2 didn't do as well is the pacing of the story. NOt to mention that it sometimes seemed forced. Many people trashed NWN's storyline, but I thought it was much better than NWN2's. Though, I must say that NWN2's inter-party dialogs were much better. Highly stereotyped, but entertaining and made me laugh out loud quite a few times. Oh, and I don't care what anyone says, NWN2 looks absolutely stunning. I don't know why people try and compare it to Oblivion, which had much larger sprites and could, ergo, have more detailed textures.

[QUOTE="madman23"]Is there another genre out there? Wide Open Role Playing Game (as in Elder Scrolls)

vs. the BioBware Negotiate the Maze Role Playing Game (NMRPG)???

TH3_1NF1D3L

I lol'd because its so true, and thats coming from a Bioware-game lover...except NWN2...don't even get me started...

Overall, I voted for Fallout, cause F2 was the first game I remember playing that I could lvl up sex ability seperately from everything else...and cause I loved punching people for 80 damage and having their heads dissolve...

I hate to nitpick, but NWN2 was NOT BioWare. Some of their staff did help answer questions and such that the folks at Obsidian had, but that's about it. NWN2 was all Obsidian Entertainment. The same people that did KoTOR II. Which also did not live up to its BioWare predecessor. Once again, sorry, but this kind of thing really gets my goat. Same with people that trash iD saying that Quake IV was lackluster. Maybe it was (I thought it was quite fun actually), but iD didn't make the damn thing. Raven did.

[QUOTE="gozalo"]How the Hell can KOTOR have more votes than BG2?fireandcloud

You underestimate the Jedi nerds - they would buy a 2 inch USB cable if you put the word Jedi in front of it :)

Seriously, KotOR is so not even on the same level as Fallout and BG.

i think it's because kotor and kotor 2 are newer. the younguns haven't experienced the wonders of true rpgs like bg2, fallout 1 & 2, and planescape: torment.

Very true. I love KoTOR a lot. I still have it on my computer and I actually played through it, yet again, about 2 weeks ago. However, it in no way measures up to Baldurs Gate II. I hadn't played BG2 in a long time, so I installed it and played through it (yet again) about 8 months ago. I was surprised at how it stands the test of time. Yeah the graphics are old, with 2D sprite images, but is is excellent where it counts andf the graphics really aren't that bad. The dialog is incredibly well done, the pacing and the plot are awesome. And there's plenty of sidequests and easter eggs. Honestly, I don't think any other RPG will ever be able to surpase it. Though I'm hoping Dragon Age will give it a good run for that coveted crown.

Another thing I am surprised about: Sam Adams' Cranberry Lambic is quite good. It reminds me of a good blush wine and the peach esters give it a very full fruity bouquet with a bit of wheat and crystal malt backbone. Delicious!

I just recently got my E4400 (2.0GHz Intel Core2Duo) processor RMAd from Intel. I popped it into my ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA mobo and everything's runny peachy. I loaded up speedfan and saw that temps for both Core0 and Core1 were hovering around 89F. There's also Temp1 and Temp2 which are 81F and 91F, respectively. Ambient room temp is about 75F. (Temp reading are from idle) I've never had to deal with this before, as usually my processors would run around 110F (idle) to 145F (under full load). Can having a processor run too cool be a problem?

[QUOTE="jrhawk42"]yea, but I don't really feel like fighting the crowds.mrbojangles25

Awww, its not so bad if you just go for the hell of it. Nothings funnier than seeing some grumpy wannabe macho man giving a 110 pound little clerk a bad time. Especially when the clerk wins.

Ha! True. :) I dunno, I've been in stores before during these crazy sales, and I'm usually laughing and smirking the long lines whilst everyone else is miserable. What did they think? You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have... the facts of life.

I believe its actually called Black Friday because that is when the store's sales figures go from red to black, in other words when they start making money. I could be wrong thoughbrokenlightbulb
Hmm. Good point. Never really thought about that. I always equated it with the way my friends that worked retail would feel like killing themselves or rather dying than having to work that day

Any printers on sale? I need to pick up a printer.bigmit37

I'm sure there are. You can go look yourself @ http://www.bfads.net

Some things on Mac you can upgrade fairly easily. RAM is one of those things. But if you want a new video card, you either buy it from Apple or get the exact same brand and chip as what Apple offers, or else you're screwed. I'm not going to pretend that Macs are great gaming machines, or even that many people game on them. But to say there are no recent games, or that no one uses their Mac for gaming is simply not correct. Macs are primarily work computers, plain and simple. The interface is sleek and easy to use. They're simple and very idiot-proof. It's also a very lightweight OS, so it frees up more resources for your apps to use.

Another thing Macs have going for them is the family factor. OSX has very good parental control features. I haven't gotten Vista (though I think i might next weekend), so I can't comment on the parental controls that it has (I've heard they're fairly indepth), but XP sucks at parental controls. I don't have kids, but if I did I would want a Mac as my family computer and a console for my kid to play.

Overall, I rely on my Mac because it is an industry standard for me. I also enjoy dual-booting my Hackintosh becuse when I'm on OSX, I have no desire to, nor am I distracted by the notion of gamng. Because I don't have any games loaded onto my Mac partition. When i boot up XP, then it's game time. Apple seems fine being what it is, and i don't think they care enough to try to get into the gaming market. If they were, I think they'd rather go the console route.
