GOTY Awards

I did some game of the year awards, took a lot of brain power.

Best Male Performance of the Year

Soap Captain Soap MacTavish (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) Possibly one of my favorite voice acting in a game, Kevin McKidd does a great job of helping the immersive feel and sets a tone of realism and chaos. The commands he gives sound legit, and his actions prove that he has learned since the first Modern Warfare game. John "Soap" MacTavish is a great character and a powerful leader. I look forward to seeing him in a future game... if there is one. Best Female

Performance of the Year

Chloe Chloe Frazer (Uncharted 2: Among Thieves) Some may have heard of Claudia Black, some may of haven't. She's an Australian actor, and in this case, the perfect voice for Nathan Drake's love. The best element of her character is the blend of every-day-women and with a semi-over-the-top attitude. She'll crack jokes, and crack skulls, but moslty crack you. Don't know how... or why... but she will...

Best Graphics Graphics

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Yet another award goes to the perfectly polished and presented adventure extreme. Not only is the sound great, the high quality shades and nicely mixed colours go well with the tone – and the variety of it all help it feel all fresh and not at all forced. Each location brings new themes, and new themes bring new feelings. One feeling is certain, the environments are stunning to look at and the character's look more real than any game I have played.

Best Moment Moment

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Which moment is it? THE WHOLE LOT OF IT! Sersiously, the amount of amazing and astounding moments in this game are so fantastic and memorable it's so hard to decide on one of them! I'm not going to reveal any of them, so you can find out for yourself, but there are more than a dozen moments, for me, that make me say 'wow' every time I see them. Definately one of the most epic games of 2009 and, possibly, of all time.

Game of the Year Nominees Assassin's Creed 2 AC2 I absolutely loved the first game. Months before I got my PS3 (with Assassin's Creed) for Christmas I bought the strategy guide and art book and read them from cover to cover over and over again; it was essentially the game of the year for be beating any other game, I absolutely loved it. Now, I hope you can guess how much I love the sequel? Assassin's Creed 2 makes so many improvements over the original making it less-repetitive and a whole lot more entertaining and diverse.

Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time

R&C One of my favorite game duos of all time, the two buddies travel across the universe one more, in different aspects and new ways that haven't been seen before in an R&C game. From penetrating enemy warships to scaling alien planets to solving time puzzles, each and every forumla that went into this game is surely entertaining. While it may not be as big as an improvement over it's predecessor like AC2 was, this is close to surpasing every Insomniac game before it. Oh yeah, and the Australian version doesn't have "future" in the title. Take that. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

U2 Offering a great storyline and superb graphics, this game shows off the capabilities of the Playstation 3 with pride. This is definately one of the most polished and refined games of the year. When I saw the announcement trailer I was a little skeptical. It just looked like a snow version of the first, but the amount of variety and environments holds it far away, but also close, to the original game. Those 3 games were amazing in every way, butthe winner of BigBangWiscite's Game Awards of 2009 is...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2! COD: MW2 As if you didn't know! Wait, you didn't? Yes, of course you did. The critically acclaimed FPS series is back in modern times and it is better than ever. The single player experience is the best I have had in a shooter in such a long time, with great and memorable moments with intense and realistic action. But, the campaign is nothing compared to the amount of diversity and creativity put into the multiplayer. It's a definate improvement over the last game, and that's saying something because the first Modern Warfare game was stellar. There are many maps, prestiges, game modes, callsigns, killstreaks, cIasses, weapons... the amount of variety in each aspect of the multiplayer is sure to make any shooter-lover fall in love with it. The characters are enjoyable and the way Infinity Ward present each mission helps the innovation, the plot twists are hard to see coming, but very inventive. How much more can I tell you how good this is? It's an interactive hollywood blockbuster, with a great online community with hundreds of hours to be spent. It's just waiting for you to get into. Definately game of the year me.

Got a GP2x Wiz for Christmas

Yeah, a emulator Linux-based handheld so I can finally upgrade PSP Firmware 4.0! It does music, MPEG4 video, ebooks (no need for Amazon Kindle) and runs many emulators. It cost me $170, and I don't know if it's worth it, but it's cool. It plays Vorbis. It uses those really low power and low cost Active-Matrix OLED screens that expands battery life for 8 hours. It runs lithum ion. It runs Genesis, Amiga, SNES, NES, Neo-Geo, GBA, and N64 emulators. If it did 3D, it'd probably have better graphics than PSP.

Nintendo Handheld 2011 announced (NDS2, GBA2)

I love my new firefox plugin called Flash Block, and you save like 175 MB / month just by having one in your Firefox browser

The new Nintendo handheld in development will have a Nvidia Tegra 600, a modified ARM11 at 700 MHz. This puppy has support for OpenGL 2.0 at 640x480 resolution. The LP-DDR3 RAM is clocked at 200 MHz. LP stands for low power. It'll probably be a Dual Screen, because DS sold more than GBA by 30 million. You could see PS3 games being ported to Dual Screen 2.

This may hint that Wii 2 will be based around OpenGL 3.2 API (like DirectX 11). I was thinking a heavily yeilded Cell Broadband Engine /w Broadway CPU, 512 MB GDDR5, and RV740. That should be cheap in 2010. RV740 doesn't support OpenGL 3.2, but that has to do with firmware. RV740 has a 128-bit memory bus.

Now announcing Christmas Presents early

It is early, because on Christmas day, everyone will be anywhere, but at this URL page. At least I'll get a comment.

I got a lean and mean Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, the best Socket 775 CPU in the world. It has SSE 4.1 and 12 MB L2 Cache and this is more than any Core i5 and most of the Core i7s out there. I also have a ATI utility that will overclock my XFX Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition. I found all the missing cables for my Ultra X3 PSU so that won't be a problem. My DDR2 RAM may be a burden, but still DirectX 11. I'm going to get 80 fps on DirectX 11 games at 1080p everybody! Isn't that brilliant? I'll log into the sites and show everybody.

I always wanted to know what else then computer parts I could've got for christmas. I have some skies and boots, a snowboard jacket, and a 6 year old ATV that runs!

I'm all good for when around in 2013, US looses #1 spot as a country, and the Democratic Party practice social democracy (like Japan) with the exception of their current leader who has CZARS kind of like Russia had before their Communist Revolution. They inter-mix you know. I hope I can afford PS4 and Xbox 720 in 2012 like other nations! Of course I hope that the Republicans get voted in!

Future of PC games according to Andy and response.

I don't agree with Andy on the "I can't play the PC games released now" on a old PC. There are some DirectX 9 games as advanced as F.E.A.R that run on a Pentium IV, 2 GB DDR1, and Radeon 9800 XT (2003, first 256 MB GDDR3 card) fine at 1280x768. Isn't that pretty much all the DirectX 9 games out running on Radeon 9800 XT? The DirectX 10 cards all play DirectX 9 games better than DirectX 9 cards. The Geforce 8800 GTX can play all the DirectX 10 games good at 1280x960 with only 128 stream processors. It's true. DirectX 11 cards should play Crysis at 1080p at least 50 fps after 6 months of Catalyst updates and game patches. Other DirectX 10 games aren't as slow as Crysis such as UT7 runs great on Geforce 8800 GTX at 1280x960. I guess the fact nobody living in social democracies like to admit is, Americans got the money, we will upgrade (exactly like "Got car, will travel remember"?). I'll be set for the next four years of DirectX 11 with either a Radeon HD 5970 or Geforce GTX 380, but I'll upgrade GPUs again. It sounds like I'm buying a Radeon HD 5970.

Now on the game decision, I guess after my Forza Motorsport 3 purchase, the next best game won't be out in February, Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect won a RPG of the Year award, that's why. Pocket karma.

Thanksgiving update

Hi ANYONE, ANYONE AT ALL; lend me your ears (and eyes)!

Hello? (crickets.....)

Fine.

I really, really wanted a Gran Turismo like videogame for Thanksgiving. I get Thankgiving presents up to $64. I picked that awesome Forza Motorsport 3. I really did buy Dragon age Origins. Sorry, with my underachiving ping count on my hilariously slow broadband connection which BTW still got me Windows 7 Ultimate and a few mp3 files and some other apps, I can't MMORPG with anybody and guarantee a great time except for Guild Wars, you know, because I can stomach the insanity of ping rate. I love that game so much. Be nice to the handicapped.

And that Geforce GTX 380 has been pushed to mid-December 2009. The core is called the GF-100 and it has 1.5 GB and about 2.5 Teraflops of DirectX 11 sweetness. It'll suck to the Geforce GTX 395 (not 295), but makes the Christmas list. I have to deal with an ancient DirectX 9.0b Radeon 9800 XT and just unappreciated Geforce 8800 GTX which yeah runs everything fine in that old Athlon 64 X2 5000+, 2 GB of RAM beast next to my other newer beast I type this on.

See, I know the truth. You buy games and nobody cares (hardly) SO I BUY HARDWARE INSTEAD. People care more so here! And digicameras don't really matter past the DIGIC III processor in my Rebel XSi. Got to tell you, I'm barely ahead with my powerhouse GTX 380 GPU and that is karma level for the underemployed (part time looking for full time employee).

New games

- Dragon Age Origins

- Forza Motorsport 3

Near Future

- God of War collection

That and I paid Electrodisc $7 for Ubuntu 9.1 and OpenSuse 11.2 x64.

Gamespot Conspiracy?

FIFA 10 on PS3 got a 9.0 GS score and all the reader reveiws are giving it a 8.0 out of 10 or better whilest Madden 10 on PS3 had a 7.5 and reader reviews are anywhere from 1.0 - 6.0. Do you think it is all the Europeans reviewing Madden like I believe they are. I guess they forgot that Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers at the Metrodome with Bret Farve on the Vikings on ESPN Monday Night Football got the highest TV audience ever recorded this year.

Something wrong here.

Here's hoping Jak IV The Lost Frontier won't end up like Ratchet and Clank 5 PS2

I hope High Impact Games, makers of Sized Matters actually makes Jak IV The Lost Frontier better than Sized Matters, because I want to own it for PS2 unless it has below 7.5 as a average score or Gamestop score. I like Jak and Daxter, and even though non-Mario platformers are died, the first three and Daxter PSP were fun enough. I've played Jak and Daxter in the 11th grade in High School and told everyone how I loved that game. At the time, I believe gamers there were about finished in dedicating loads of time into PS2. Dark Daxter emulates Taz from Tazmania Warner Bros. cartoon of the 1990s.

That was a time when I was an A student, a mp3 player (predated HE-AAC), and GBA in my pocket, because I was alone during break at this charter school. Back then, I believe other student called President Bush was communist well BEFORE there were Democrat czars (take a hint)....scared the teachers half to death. Students with a brain knew in 2003, that wars would last past 2007! And I was the weird kid, who falsely identified as racist "pro-communist" conservative. Now the reverse is true. Imagine that. I think everyone knew of democrats in congress, but no Sentator Todd or nancy Polisi. People still talked about RAP, Hip-hop, and NASCAR in 2001-2003. 250 hours of community service wasn't mandatory. I still listened to Alexander Coe and Armin Van Buuren, DJ Testo, Chicane, Paul Van Dyk, John Digweed, ATB, Ferry Corstin, Daft Punk, Guns and Roses, AC/DC, Nickelback, Goo Goo Dolls, Metallica, and Country bands in 11th and 12th grade. Didn't share...no one wanted mine.

Going Next Generation est. November 27

Hi, I'm mistated my tech specs two days ago when I said I would purchase a Crossfire of Radeon HD 5870 thinking my SLI board would accept a crossfire which I caught myself in time. That's the beef with the situation at hand. Now a Crossfire socket 775 Mobo would cost $110 and that would be like buying a Geforce GTX 380 so I decided to go for the 1024 MB Geforce GTX 380 that will be released 28 days after Birthday. Having a single Radeon HD 5870 would increase performance over GTX 280 SLI and have DirectX 11, but 281.6 fps sounds even better...would have to wait for official GTX 380 price point.

Known tech specs of the Geforce GTX 380.

- memory bandwidth of massive 281.6 GB/s

- 512 cores working at 1.6 GHz.

- 2048 MB GDDR5 (could be the GTX 350) or 4096 MB GDDR5 (could be GTX 380)

- 2.46 TFLOPS

- 512-bit memory interface

- improved double precision technology for another leap in performance according to rumors.

I'm but sure how much memory bandwidth it takes to take this bump mapping

10

11

GTX 280 tech Specs what I have now

- 933 GFLOPS

- 240 stream processors

- 146 GB/sec texture bandwidth

- 512-bit memory interface

- 1.4 billion transistors (more than double that of my Geforce GTX 8800 GTX)

From what I saw in the Radeon HD 5870, in Unreal Tournament 3, it gets 23 frames per second better on a single card. In Far Cry 2 Geforce GTX 280 gets 73 fps, and the Radeon HD 5870 gets 168 fps. This is a significant improvement, I was previously thinking of a single card setup. Older games like Farcry 2 get over 200 fps. I only have to wait 27 days to find out what change there is. I doubt there will be any demanding DirectX 11 games in that 27 day period. I would buy the Radeon HD 5870 if there was a stupid downgrade in performance of Geforce GTX 380 over the HD 5870 and if the GTX 380 SLI over-saturated my PSU in power requirements were it would desinergrate.

I'm not giving into the Hype....

So I am not rich, yet even if I were rich, I wouldn't buy a PS3 Slim. I have a working PS3 and a backup so I wouldn't buy one. The theory of the backup was the truth behind the dropped Emotion Engine in the future back in December 2006. Same with PSP, NDS, Xbox 360. It's nice that the Xbox 360 Arcade costs $200 by now. I'll buy one if mine breaks. Until then I want to purchase games, and I'm having a hard time saving up for Metroid Prime Trilogy. I loved all the Metroid Prime games. And I downloaded some new Armin Van Buuren so I'm good for another year. It's been 10 months since my last download. I've been reserved due to too many Linux.

I'm actually excited for the Xbox 720 in 2010. I imagine it being 45" facrication process dual socket Xenon-based motherbord and 1 GB GDDR5 main RAM and mainstream DirectX 11 ATI Radeon RV840. I'm expecting sequel to most games on it. Wikipedia said 1 GB GDDR5. If the Xbox 360 uses DVD video, and Bluray is the standard, I don't see why it shouldn't go to BD drive. It's obvious that Microsoft will be selling Xbox 720 games at department stores, Best Buy, and Game Stop. DirectX 9 is only 6 years old! It's getting a time extension solely, because it won't outsell nearly as many 20th century PS2. The Xbox 720 I invision may look like the a failure of the two SuperH2 CPUs inside the Sega Saturn spec wise, yet PS4 is going to have at least a 4 PPEs and 32 SPE CPU so I don't see the frustration. Both the Cell Broadband Engine and Xenon must be really inexpensive by now to mass manufacture.
