I did some game of the year awards, took a lot of brain power.
Best Male Performance of the Year
Soap Captain Soap MacTavish (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) Possibly one of my favorite voice acting in a game, Kevin McKidd does a great job of helping the immersive feel and sets a tone of realism and chaos. The commands he gives sound legit, and his actions prove that he has learned since the first Modern Warfare game. John "Soap" MacTavish is a great character and a powerful leader. I look forward to seeing him in a future game... if there is one. Best Female
Performance of the Year
Chloe Chloe Frazer (Uncharted 2: Among Thieves) Some may have heard of Claudia Black, some may of haven't. She's an Australian actor, and in this case, the perfect voice for Nathan Drake's love. The best element of her character is the blend of every-day-women and with a semi-over-the-top attitude. She'll crack jokes, and crack skulls, but moslty crack you. Don't know how... or why... but she will...
Best Graphics Graphics
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Yet another award goes to the perfectly polished and presented adventure extreme. Not only is the sound great, the high quality shades and nicely mixed colours go well with the tone – and the variety of it all help it feel all fresh and not at all forced. Each location brings new themes, and new themes bring new feelings. One feeling is certain, the environments are stunning to look at and the character's look more real than any game I have played.
Best Moment Moment
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Which moment is it? THE WHOLE LOT OF IT! Sersiously, the amount of amazing and astounding moments in this game are so fantastic and memorable it's so hard to decide on one of them! I'm not going to reveal any of them, so you can find out for yourself, but there are more than a dozen moments, for me, that make me say 'wow' every time I see them. Definately one of the most epic games of 2009 and, possibly, of all time.
Game of the Year Nominees Assassin's Creed 2 AC2 I absolutely loved the first game. Months before I got my PS3 (with Assassin's Creed) for Christmas I bought the strategy guide and art book and read them from cover to cover over and over again; it was essentially the game of the year for be beating any other game, I absolutely loved it. Now, I hope you can guess how much I love the sequel? Assassin's Creed 2 makes so many improvements over the original making it less-repetitive and a whole lot more entertaining and diverse.
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time
R&C One of my favorite game duos of all time, the two buddies travel across the universe one more, in different aspects and new ways that haven't been seen before in an R&C game. From penetrating enemy warships to scaling alien planets to solving time puzzles, each and every forumla that went into this game is surely entertaining. While it may not be as big as an improvement over it's predecessor like AC2 was, this is close to surpasing every Insomniac game before it. Oh yeah, and the Australian version doesn't have "future" in the title. Take that. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
U2 Offering a great storyline and superb graphics, this game shows off the capabilities of the Playstation 3 with pride. This is definately one of the most polished and refined games of the year. When I saw the announcement trailer I was a little skeptical. It just looked like a snow version of the first, but the amount of variety and environments holds it far away, but also close, to the original game. Those 3 games were amazing in every way, butthe winner of BigBangWiscite's Game Awards of 2009 is...
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2! COD: MW2 As if you didn't know! Wait, you didn't? Yes, of course you did. The critically acclaimed FPS series is back in modern times and it is better than ever. The single player experience is the best I have had in a shooter in such a long time, with great and memorable moments with intense and realistic action. But, the campaign is nothing compared to the amount of diversity and creativity put into the multiplayer. It's a definate improvement over the last game, and that's saying something because the first Modern Warfare game was stellar. There are many maps, prestiges, game modes, callsigns, killstreaks, cIasses, weapons... the amount of variety in each aspect of the multiplayer is sure to make any shooter-lover fall in love with it. The characters are enjoyable and the way Infinity Ward present each mission helps the innovation, the plot twists are hard to see coming, but very inventive. How much more can I tell you how good this is? It's an interactive hollywood blockbuster, with a great online community with hundreds of hours to be spent. It's just waiting for you to get into. Definately game of the year me.
