If you had asked me in high school there would have been no hesitation before I said Squaresoft (now Square-Enix) or Bethesda. But though I enjoy FFXII and Daggerfall (yeah, two games before Oblivion), I'm just not feeling it from them anymore. But with Neverwinter Nights and KOTOR, Bioware hasn't really gone wrong yet. I'm going to have to say Bioware.

I knew there were a few games in my collection that I hadn't finished yet. Today I decided to actually go through my list of games and make a separate list of those games which I haven't finished. I think it turned out to be a longer list than I had anticipated. After writing my list out, I realized, not only have I not finished these games, but there are several on the list that I never even started playing. The list crosses every possible platform or genre boundary. My list also covers games from the absolutely horrible to the AAA gems of a given platform.

Now, before I unveil my list I want to say, when I say "finish" I mean in whatever possible way a particular game could be 'finished.' That could mean, solving every puzzle of a puzzle game, or finishing the main quest of a non-linear RPG, or whatever the case may be. Without further ado here are 39 games I own but have not finished. Arranged by platform and then alphabetically.

Platform - Name
----------
PSX - Chrono Cross
PSX - Legend of Mana
PSX - Star Ocean: The Second Story
PSX - Valkyrie Profile
PS2 - Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
GBA - Final Fantasy II
GBA - Final Fantasy V
360 - Need For Speed: Most Wanted
DS - Final Fantasy III
DS - Lunar Knights
DS - Picross DS
Wii - Excite Truck
Wii - Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Wii VC - Solomon's Key
PC - American McGee's Alice
PC - Baldur's Gate
PC - BG: Tales of the Sword Coast
PC - Braveheart
PC - Clive Barker's Undying
PC - Combat Flight Simulator 2: WWII Pacific Theatre
PC - Diablo
PC - Doom 3
PC - Dungeon Master II: The Legend of Skullkeep
PC - Dungeon Siege
PC - The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall
PC - The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon
PC - The Elder Scrolls: Arena
PC - Guild Wars
PC - Guild Wars: Factions
PC - Guild Wars: Nightfall
PC - Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim
PC - Neverwinter Nights
PC - NWN: Underdark
PC - NWN: Undrentide
PC - Norse by Norsewest: The Return of the Lost Vikings
PC - Populous: The Beginning
PC - Tomb Raider II
PC - Tomb Raider III
PC - Unreal

Am I the only one here? Anyone else have a large backlog of unfinished (or in some cases unplayed) games?

Good post but I think you should try the final version of Halo 3 to really have a fair comparison of everything you stated.dreamscott

I've actually been considering buying it for a while, but I'm still on the fence. I'm kinda hoping for a demo, but I doubt it'll happen.

I liked one I saw about a study that found, "People have sex because it feels good."

I sure am glad we spent money on that study. Finally the mystery is revealed.

Mario Kart Wii for sure. Here's hoping the controls are spot on.

My prediction: The reviews will both be glowingly positive and find no fault with either game, but miraculously the games will get 8.0 or 8.5.

I can tell you that even after switching from the PC to the 360 version the framerate was disappointing for me. Sure, it's better than running the game on your parents' Pentium 3, but it could have been a lot better.

Fire Flower, how I have missed thee.

The more I hear about Super Mario Galaxy the more I look forward to it.

I wouldn't consider myself a "Halo hater."

You have to understand where some people are coming from. I've been a PC gamer for several years. Great multiplayer first-person shooters are abundant in the PC market. It's true, Halo was a great console FPS. It did a lot to elevate console first-person shooters. But those of us who grew up playing first-person shooters on PCs aren't impressed because we've been playing better for years.

In addition, I'm not only a PC gamer, but I remember when Goldeneye 007 came out for the N64. Now, granted, it didn't have internet multiplayer, but I still think that Goldeneye 007 was far more influential and popular for its time. It even turned RPG fanboys like me into FPS lovers. When I had friends over there was only one game to play: Goldeneye.

So, see, with me, I have a long history of video gaming, and I just don't see anything that amazingly different about Halo.
