They might not be since you can compare to people on your friends list. Who knows. At least it's not a crucial part of anything besides egos.

I probably average one a month since I got the 360

I haven't yet found the quickest way to earn Gold. Slow and steady it seems to me (at least you've still got plenty of time to build up a nice stash).

On point though, you have to level up the gambler you're using to the appropriate star level before you can enter better tournaments.
