A giant turd on the cover with the title "poop life" would have been better. seriously.Rev2221
I would buy a game called Poop Life without even looking at the back of the box.

Yeah, hahaha. That's pretty bad.
But, it's what's on the inside that counts.
I'd rather have an excellent game (in this case a compilation of sorts) with horrible box art than a horrible game with excellent box art.
According to IGN, there are 177 PS2 titles that scored under 5... ...in contrast, there were only55 for the GCN.
Tell me again which library has more crap games??? :P
NotThat_basic
Yep, the PS2 had the most "crap" games, it also had the most superb games - by far.
That's the TC's point, he's saying that despite the sales numbers the Wii will get the large quantity of crap games that comes with being the top selling system without the large quantity of superb games that has historically come with it. Why? That's what happens when a huge portion of your audience is "non-gamers," games that appeal to them don't tend to appeal to the more traditional gamers... and knowing this those are the types of games 3rd parties are going to churn out for the Wii (if I had to guess,) and that is EXACTLY what we've been seeing up to this point.
Have you read this thread at all? The Playstation 2 was expected for greatness, it came after the amazing sucess that was the original Playstation, developers had their games ready for it because they knew the PS2 was gonna be huge. The Gamecube was a bad failure for Nintendo and with the risk they were taking with the Wii, developers werent sure that it was gonna bea success. However at this years E3 you will probably see a lot of new games from 3rd parties for the Wii.goodlay
The point is it's all about appealing to a given platform's demographic, that's the name of the game for developers. That's how they make their cash.
Sony wasn't targeting mostly non-gamers with the PS2, Nintendo has made it crystal clear it intends on attracting your mother, your father, your sister, your grandparents, etc. It has worked - they're buying it in massive numbers. This was not the case with the PS2.
So, that being said, what kind of games do you think these third parties are going to generate for the Wii? Think they'll make the type of games that would be more suited for the 360's/PS3's more "traditional"audience, or do you think they'll make games more suited for Wii's newfound "non-gamer" audience? As was said before, it's not about the quantity of the library (the Wii is sure to get that in spades considering its very high sales numbers,) it's about the quality of the library. As someone who has been playing games for more than 2 decades there's no doubt in mind my mind which types of games I prefer.
Even if you ignore all of this you have to remember that the ps2 came out in march of 2000 in japan so that was technically the library after a year and a bit.mikl1018
Yeah, should I include the import ratings too (if I did, I would have toinclude another AAA?)
I only included the games released in NA.
[QUOTE="BloatWare"][QUOTE="Tylendal"][QUOTE="AvIdGaMeR444"][QUOTE="Riviera_Phantom"]Totally agree. Even RIGHT NOW on game head to heads PS3 is winning by a large margin, if you only include exclusives then they are about even. But whats exclusive got to do with a software library? Wii tries to mimick DS but is forgetting it's not competing with the PSP. PS3 will see more standard game support. Wii will have the leftovers with tacked on controls. Of course i am talking about 3rd party not 1st party. Eponique
I think Wii will end up with more games, but more bad games at that. And that is what ticks me off. Can you name a time in videogame history when a console gets the most titles but has the worst selection of games at the same time? There isn't a time in history when that has happened. It is happening with Wii and I'm pissed!
Early in the PS2's life?
We all know that a consoles earliest games are an indication of what's to come.
This is a very widely used myth.
The PS2 launched in late October 2000 here in the US, the Wii in November 2006.
Here are the PS2 games available into very early July of the year following launch (the samepoint the Wii is at right now: )
Game:....................................Rating:
SSX.........................................9.4
Madden NFL 2001......................9.1
Tekken Tag Tournament........... 9.4
FIFA 2001.................................9.0
Rayman 2 Revolution.................9.1
Twisted Metal Black.................... 9.5
NBA Steet................................. 9.3
GT3: A-Spec............................... 9.4
That's just the AAA's the PS2 had in that window.... 8 of them. It was a very good library - much better than the Wii's current one. It also had countless other AA's in that window (extremely good ones too... Onimusha, Timesplitters, DOA2, etc. Could go on forever.)
Like the TC said... this may be a first in history. The first time in history a console obliterates the competition yet has a poor (relative to the other consoles) library.
Okay, that means the PS2 stomps every gaming library on all nex-gen consoles. Either GS reviewers have gone more strict or the PS2 games were flat out better.
The PS2 had one of the greatest (if not "the" greatest) libraries of any console, ever.
That was my point. It was not a poor library early on in its life as was said before, it was an extremely good one.
