Microsoft we have a problem.

Lionheart08

Seriously. On the gamefront, Microsoft definitely had the better showing, but all they really did was dangle a carrot in front of people in hopes of downplaying all the flaws of their system.

I missed some of the Sony conference so I didn't see what all they will have, but MS had several games that I would love to play.  But the drm is a complete dealbreaker.  And $499 on top of that.

I mostly game on the PC these days, but may get a PS4 if my friends/family end up picking one up.  Most of them are on the fence about getting a new console, but have all flat out said there is no way they are getting an Xbone with 24 check-ins, no used games, etc.  I paid for Live for years, so playing for PS+ isn't an issue for me.

Thanks for the link.  I played the first a couple years back and loved it.  Still haven't played 2, but I picked that one up, as well.

The sooner you accept you can't stop preordering, the happier you'll be.

I pre-purchased the game, even though I should know better.  (I have this game and then other pre-purchase and then no more for me.  I can easily afford them, but there's very few games worth paying full price for, let alone making a blind buy like this). I did enjoy the other games in the series a ton.

Some quick thoughts from the very brief time I've spent on it - the game is gorgeous, the bow is pretty fun though it seems to be a bit imbalance so far.  The first level has some slightly open areas, but is very COD-ish so far in how it's structured.

I would agree but then i realise that i've got all the games i want pretty much. :P

I'm getting this way. There were a few times I found myself thinking it would be nice if I didn't already own a game since they had such a good deal on it.

It did seem like Amazon generally trumped the Steam sales, or at least matched them the whole time. I ended up picking up extra copies of Bioshock and Bioshock 2 since it was $10 with Spec Ops the Line, which I didn't own. That game never went below $10.19 by itself on Steam, as far as I know. I still got it a copy for use on Steam, and had a couple of keys to give away to friends.

I still managed to pick up a few games including Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed 3, though I got both of those from Uplay early on. Steam didn't match the 25% on either of those until the last couple of days.

Thanks, Elann. Guess I'll be picking it up on Uplay.

I've picked up a few things so far, including Hitman Absolution from Amazon.com for $20. I'm hoping Far Cry 3 or Assassin's Creed 3 drops in price on Steam. They're both 25% off at uplay's site, but I'd prefer to keep all of my games on just Steam. It's bad enough that I have a few stragglers on Origin.

Elann2008

You know that they both require Uplay, right? Wouldn't make a difference whether it's on steam or not. One less DRM to deal with.

Hmmm...do you have to have the uplay client installed to play those even if you buy them through Steam? If so, I might as well get them from Uplay.

The visuals of the single player were amazing. Everything else was tedious, and boring outside of a couple of stand out moments like the tank level. It was far too linear, too heavily scripted, and too boxed in for the most part. On top of that, none of the characters were memorable or really likable. As bad as MoH was, I found it to be more fun as a single player game. Bad Company 2 wasn't the greatest game, but I found the characters enjoyable, plenty of humourous moments, and the game remembered it was Battlefield from time to time with some more expansive levels, vehicle driving, etc.

COD has many of the same issues, but they're over the top enough that they're easier to sit through. Overall, I'll be happy when they start fading in popularity and the other good series out there stop trying to emulate them and do so badly.
