I'm kind of torn on the game, though I haven't tried the multi-player yet. As much as I enjoy the open world games, I do wish this game would have had fewer similarities to games like GTA. Honestly, I would have preferred a proper fps follow up the first game. I did have a blast with this game aside from some frustrations with the driving related missions (I suck at driving in games like this) and seeing anything about "guerilla reinforcements have joined".

Destroying buildings is also always a blast.

There are two that come to mind immediately:

Ghost Recon 2 - Horrible follow up to a great game. I actually quit about halfway through. Too many missions where a small recon team is supposed to be defending bases against an army of attackers. The missions that weren't like that were way too repetitive. Mostly, I got tired of "we've got (attackers/terrorist base camp, etc) in the (NW/S/SE,etc)". The first game had maps that I could take my time clearing and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Deus Ex: Invisible War - Still a great game, but a poor follow up to one of the greatest games of all time.

Off the top of my head, nothing disappoints quite as much as those two.

I'm usually playing at least two or three games at a time. More if one or more of the games are frustrating.

I'll save my usual ranting and just say WRPG. There are a few JRPG series I still like, though.

The biggest stretch since subscribing was about a year and a half. Even now, I mostly keep it to game with friends. I don't care much about multiplayer anymore.

Tom Clancy's HAWX. A few minutes minutes into the second mission. In two missions, there'd been two uses of the defend objective. And three planes against an attacking army? I didn't even give it a chance to see if I failed. I just popped out the disc and put it in the "to sell" pile. Maybe it gets better, but I didn't care to play through another defend mission to find out. I've about given up on Tom Clancy titles, which is a shame since I used to love most of their releases.

I got into console gaming in college when I was too broke to maintain a gaming PC. The Xbox had a number of games that were releases of some of my favorite PC franchises, which made it the obvious choice for me. It made sense to stick with the XBox into the the current generation.

Tactical shooters feature gadgets like snake cams and teammates who say things like "Tango down". The line between regular and tactical can be pretty blurry depending on the game.

I probably wouldn't rent a game just to get points, but it is fun to open them up. They add another element to the regular gameplay. If it's possible to get some while doing other things in game, I'll ahead and try for one. It's also fun to compare my gamer score with friends. I tend to think of them like high scores from way back when.

I'm sure I'll be picking it up at some point, but not as a first day release, for sure. The E3 stage demo did make it look a little more interesting than it did at first, but it's not something I'm dying to get. I'll be more motivated by picking it up just to play with my brothers, since they're both more into Halo than I am.
