Just picked up my new XBOX console last night and went over to Danero's house to play. Metastat and CaRNival were there and we played Brute Force for a while. It was a blast! Of course we all had to get used to playing with XBOX controllers instead of keyboard and mouse. It took a little while but we got the hang of it. Meta even said he was having fun. We played the co-op mission and had to stop when we arrived at the mission involving Kingmen's briefcase. The guys didn't want to stop playing but I had to work today so we had to call it a night.
I am so happy to finally have the XBOX as my gaming PC died a few weeks ago and as my wife and I are expecting our first child in a couple of months we aren't going to spend any major money on PC equipment for a while. The XBOX was a Christmas gift and I think it more than adequately fills the void. I have several friends with XBOXes as well as Live! subscriptions so I will still be able to play online. I still have cable modem and a wireless G router so I need to pickup a wireless bridge for the XBOX when I have some extra cash.
The first few games to become parts of my library are: Brute Force, Unreal Championship, Project Gotham Racing and today I picked up Van Helsing. I will most likely end up buying at least one steering wheel and knowing Danero and how competitve the two of us are in racing games he will probably get a wheel as well. Jeremy, John, and Mike K. are all going to get together in February to play HALO 2 so I will need to pickup a copy for my console. I already have a small 5-port hub that I can used to link the XBOXes and I will make up some CAT5 cables so we will be all set.
Well that is my journal entry for today. I hope to write some game reviews for my games soon so other Thirtysomethings like me can benefit. I know there are many of us Thirtysomething gamers out there.
