What is this 2007? People still watch him?Not-A-StalkerWell, look at it this way. Imagine the number of people who will listen to you or I and care about what you're saying throughout the course of our entire lifetimes. Yahtzee, on any given week in 2011, will probably have more people actively go out of their way to hear what he has to say than the number you were thinking of previously... By several orders of magnitude. So I'll say yes.
Meh, as I've said several times before, it's a very good game, but... It's not the perfect top-of-the-gen game the PC snobs insist it is. In fact, pretty far from it. It does scratch the itch for gamers who are used to more old-school PC RPGs, but hell, I haven't had nearly as much fun with it as I've had with several other RPGs this gen. Also, does anyone else find it hard not to smile over the irony of the people rushing in to defend the game are more or less confirming precisely the stereotypes he's ragging on throughout the review?... His reviews are generally hyperbole, as this one largely is, but he nailed that part dead on.1. played on laptop
2. plays on very low settings
3. thinks the game is too hard
4. doesn't understand witcher lore
5. only played half of the first chapter before stopping

[QUOTE="vashkey"]Ha, right. Which dominate? Typical modern era shooter A or typical Modern era shooter B. Choose carefully, One has betterer graphics so obviously it's the better one. I swear, Battlefield 3 is closest gaming example of people acting like it's the second coming Christ. argetlam00
LMAO, you come here acting all smartass when infact your unbelievably ignorant. Typical modern shooter? Have you seen the power of the Battlefield 3 engine and the immense online gameplay the Battlefield games offer?
So, how much does EA pay you? I'd be willing to sound like one of their PR guys if the money was right.[QUOTE="LovePotionNo9"]People actually use the white theme? Dark theme is much easier on the eyes... Hrm... Where the heck does one change the theme?I blame Gamespot for having such contrasting themes. Looks fine with the white background theme.

[QUOTE="John_Read"]i don't know why PC gamers are so angryfoxhound_foxI'd like to see everyone be able to experience Minecraft. But the fact that all this focus is going towards ports before the game is even done, and polished... just blows my mind. Well, I started playing MC just a few months ago and it has gone from 1.4 to 1.5 to 1.6 and there is already talk of 1.7. If winter is the targeted release, that may actually coincide with their plan to release the non-beta MC if 2.0 is assumed to be the target for the finished product...
Well, I did some very challenging reasoning and came to the conclusion that... If it's still selling at a very solid rate (which it is), there must be people who don't have it yet who are interested in it - and that maybe, just maybe, gamers who don't tend to PC game and prefer console gaming might fit into that category. Huge stretch, eh? And what are there... Over 50 million 360 owners now? Yeah, I'm sure none of them will have any interest in it. Those 50+ millions don´t seem to be that much interested in downloadable only games, considering that, out of so many millions, the best selling downloadable game(Geometry Wars) is around 1 million(half than MC),so if by throwing that number you meant to say that many millions will buy MC on the 360,then I wouldn´t be so sure about that. At all.[QUOTE="Boomshaffted"][QUOTE="Arach666"] Because most people have a PC that can play it and can benefit from the adventure maps, mods and all kinds of texture packs? Or do you actually think there´s that many people that really want to play Minecraft but don´t a have a PC to run it? (aka, ancient PC´s)
Arach666
Oh,and MC sold over 2 millions, yes, but the extent of it´s comunity is already over 11 millions, because there´s also a free version, wich I seriously doubt it will be available on the 360.
You act like a cheap to make DLC game that sells a million isn't a huge success. The reality is a game with Minecraft's name - and simply put, quality and enjoyability - stands a good chance of being a top seller if not the top seller for XBL. And heck, seeing as it is still basically glorified basement software, it would be cheap to make...By throwing that number I meant to show that there are many times the number of XBOX gamers required to make the game a success who are more than willing to buy things with cheaper and superior PC counterparts on XBL - because, remember, both Catan and MTG were commercial successes on XBL.
Your question of "why even bother releasing it at all?" strikes me as more than a little silly and shows either tremendous bias or short sightedness - perhaps both. The popularity is there, the number of potential gamers are there, the potential for profit is there, and barring technical or manpower issues, why not? It hits a few hundred thousand buys and, wham - that's likely a commercial success.
Well, it broke 2 million in sales recently. Perhaps, just perhaps, so people can play it?... Because most people have a PC that can play it and can benefit from the adventure maps, mods and all kinds of texture packs? Or do you actually think there´s that many people that really want to play Minecraft but don´t a have a PC to run it? (aka, ancient PC´s) Well, I did some very challenging reasoning and came to the conclusion that... If it's still selling at a very solid rate (which it is), there must be people who don't have it yet who are interested in it - and that maybe, just maybe, gamers who don't tend to PC game and prefer console gaming might fit into the category of "would buy Minecraft." But hey, I'm sure all those new people still buying Minecraft must just not have had it because they didn't yet have a PC under eight years old to run it on [QUOTE="Boomshaffted"][QUOTE="Arach666"] Yeah,it´s still a beta. I wonder what´s the point of releasing it on the 360 though, kinect aside.Arach666
There are what, over 45 million 360 owners now? Yeah, I'm sure none of them will have any interest in it.
I know you have a vehement hatred of console gaming (please, don't even try and argue it - your posting history says more than you possibly could with feeble protests), but you have to remember, people still bought garbage like that 360 Magic: The Gathering game when there is the low-specs required full-blown MTG:O on the PC, and bought that limited feature Settlers of Catan game through XBL when there are free Catan sites online that have more robust feature sets. Being on the XBOX and making them not have to go near their PCs is a big selling point for a lot of people.
