I Need A New Avatar!

Ok. Everytime I go around this site I think 'Oh that's a cool avatar! I wonder where they got that? Oh no - I like that one better!' I'm done with my second-rate avatar!

I will find a new one that I love so much that when you look at it, you will know my address, full name, and every personal opinion I have ever had and will have for the rest of my life. Everyday I will post a blog that just has another picture of my avatar and everyone will know exactly what I'm talking about. Not only that, they'll look into the archives to see the old pictures of my avatar to - get to know the real me.

I am on a quest! I just don't really know where to look...

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

Wow - I can't believe how much I loved this movie. I rented it on an absolute whim and started watching it at like midnite last night. Its just plain funny. Its pretty much a documentary of a Michael Meyers type killer but he's actually a somewhat normal-seeming guy. He goes through and explains how he's able to do everything they do in the slasher movies like the thing where they walk really slow and still catch up to people. Great find - I'm glad I finally watched this. I'd recommend it anybody - over 12 anyway.

I'm Tracking You....meeeehh.

If you came here wondering why I'm tracking you...

I've recently really started getting into this website and I just decided today that I'd track a few people that have the same taste in movies as me. It was kinda fun to go through that way and find the different assortment of tastes that I cross - but anyway.

I'm just curious to see what else people are into that seem to have the same tastes as me (somewhat?!). So while I don't know you much now - I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say on - anything?

See ya around!

Movies I'm Watching

Right now I am watching the James Bond Classic 'Moonraker.' Jaws is a great character. This is second Bond movie I've watching in the last two days. 'The World is not Enough' I watched yesterday and it just isn't as great as I remember it. "Christmas comes twice a year" - ha ha.

I also put on Farewell to Arms this morning while I did a bit of work. I think I may need to watch that again if I want to get anything out of it - for some reason when I watch 30s movies I lose track of whats going on so easily. They mention something and its a really important part of the movie but they don't make a big deal out of it. Moonraker though - I didn't remember these 70s bond movies actually tried to be funny for a while. There's a bit of slapstick in this show - probably why it was one of my favorites when I was a kid.

TV I'm watching-4/11/08

I just started watching the 4th season of Hell's Kitchen a bit and I realize I live this show?! I really like the cooking aspect of it and I don't know everything else. Some people are just awful cooks and Chef Ramsey just freaks out - its outrageously funny, but I find myself rooting for people already. Its great tv.

So I got anxious and starting looking for the first 3 seasons which I can't seem to find too much of. I ended up actually finding the UK version of the show back before the American show started (didn't know there was one). I never watch British TV so I'm pretty interested. It doesn't seem as over-dramatic as the American version - and I apparently like the over-dramatisations. Also, its a celebrity Hell's Kitchen and they're all British Celebs. I have no idea who any of them are. I've liked it so far but am looking forward to finding the first seasons of the American version soon.

TV I've been watching...

I just got done watching the 2nd season of 30 Rock last night. I had already seen all of them through random viewing but that show is always worth watching again. Wow is that show funny. I'm usually not a big fan of David Schwimmer but the episode with Greenzo is hillarious! The part where they all go to Kenneth's party and it gets completely insane is probably the part where I laughed the hardest out of the whole season though.

I thought there was nothing that could compare to Arrested Development as far as being that funny - and I still think that. But this show is the closest anything has come in a long while - in my opinion.

Movies I've Been Into Lately

Lately I've been trying to watch a few more ****cs and cult ****cs. Fot example: The other day I watched 'All Quiet on the Western Front'(the 30s version) and '1984'. For Cult ****cs this week I watched 'Battle Royale' and I'm probably going to watch 'Oldboy' again in a couple minutes, even though I've seen it enough times as it is.

One cult ****c I really want to catch is 'Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai.'

I've only seen clips of it so far and read what what other people have said about it but it sounds like my taste. Its an 80s flick thats pretty much a spoof on sci-fi movies.

As far as ****cs go I think I'm going to try and find the first versions of 'Dracula,' etc. - maybe 'Creature from the Black Lagoon.'

This is a depart from my usual of B-movie Horror Flicks. I've always been pretty partial to that.

Anyway - to anyone else that would possibly ever come across this - I'm open to any suggestions. After I find some more good one's I'll tell ya whether I'd suggest them or not... not that anyone will ever read this...

Horror Movies

I'm a pretty big fan of horror movies. I've gotten sick of slasher films and anything where its pretty much just a pretty girl running from a psycho guy. These just seem to be the same movie over and over but in different settings.

Lately I was pretty excited to see some horror-comedies come out (Shawn of the Dead, Slither, Severence, Black Sheep) but I've kinda just been hoping for something to at least seriously try to be scary again.

What in the last 10 years that we haven't ripped off from Asian Cinema would you call a classic? There's a couple in there. 28 days later - I thought was great. It was unique for a zombie film at the time, it was eerie, and I love the music - its perfect for the movie.

Now it seems like the movies that even break the plane of mediocre get great reviews. Its like the critics have just given up on the genre and I think alot of them have. They pretty much figure if you're into this, you probably don't care much about plot or substance or anything besides a little gore.

I would say The Host was probably the best creature-feature movie I've seen in a long time and probably the most realistic-looking monster I've ever seen in a movie.

But where are our original horror movies? Somebody in the Hollywood scene must be writing something decent. Do they not think we're interested in well-thought-out horror movies anymore?

Back in the day in American cinema, horror film plot lines where just as set up as any other movies, they where just meant to be scary also. Not that they where either of the two in all cases, but I watched a movie called 'Horror Express' the other night and that had more effect on me than anything I've seen thats come out in the last 10 years. That movie was about 35 years old I think but had the old-school horror movie actors in it. Good Show.

Give me more Hollywood!

I don't know that anyone really sees these blogs - especially since I'm pretty knew here - but does anyone feel the same or am I just saying something incredibly obvious.

Old Battlestar Galactica - new fan of both

I just found the new Battlestar Galactica last year - I admit straight-off that I loved the show from the first episode. I wasn't sure what to make of Gayas Baltair right away just because it seems like he overacts a little to often but now that I watched the first 3 seasons I wouldn't change his character at all - he actually ended up being one of my favorite characters.

Then I got done with the show... I was watching it all as I studied and I got to the last episode of season 3 (which - the ending was great - All Along the Watchtower - I thought that was a great move).

I found out pretty quickly that Season 4 wasn't coming out for a while...So I've been waiting and waiting - just like everybody else.

Then finally I broke down and watched something I've been putting off for a while - the original Battlstar Galactica series (I'm only 6 episodes in - no spoilers!!). The net effect I guess if thats what you want to call it is that I liked the original show and had a much deeper respect for the new one also. The original is actually pretty good.

But, the things they changed for the new series makes it so much better. The effects kept me watching through the first episodes - but the storylines kept me calling in sick to work. Holy crap I love this show.

Surprises I found from the Old show so far:

Starback was a dude - oh - yeah I guess that would make sense - I'm sure most everyone made the reverse of that discovery but it was news to me. I like Starbuck better as a girl - but I gotta say I'm not a huge fan of the new Apollo - I'd much prefer the 70s Apollo. Apollo in the 2003 BSG I end up liking about 1/2 the time - I guess his story line's meant to go back and forth a bit though. Overall I like him.

Gotta go - add more later...Sorry for the randomness!
