This is unfortunate. After the Mario Galaxy mega thread that went on for weeks, this placed was becoming fun again. It's always had such a strong sense of community. The mods have been doing a great job in this matter, my hat is off to you, it's a tough place to be.
Thank you to all the posters I've enjoyed reading over the years, I hope to read your ideas on another site someday. I think even though the choice may be tough, it is time to move on. Our love for gaming will not change, so starting over in a fresh new environment can be a positive thing. I'll pop in from time to time to see who's still around, but it won't be an everyday thing anymore, like I said, these discussions make my afternoons! Just because some of us don't post all the time doesn't mean we aren't reading!
So where is a good forum with this sense of community? I'm looking for a new home.
[QUOTE="BuddaX"][QUOTE="Yellow_Rose"]This arguement has no merit because you NEVER see these game dominate the Japanese sales charts the way viloent games rule the American charts. Maybe because we don't get these types of games is the reason this culture wants to blow up everything.BTW for any of you clueless kids wanting to bash American culture,.....

These 2 games are very popular in Japan.

First of all, this is SYSTEM WARS, not CULTURE WARS, so I'm not gonna entertain this brain-dead argument with.
Go to another forum with that crap.

Seems like the European gamers like them some killing as well. And I'm anticipating your response to this. Walk into my web ;)
Walk into your web? Does that mean your going to win the arguement?;) You said those 2 games are VERY POPULAR in Japan. They are not. The TC asked why 360 is popular in America...quite a few posters said because of violent games. I agree to a certain extent, therefore(based on this criteria) I felt your post had no merit because it had no reference to why AMERICANS like the 360.The arguement is not about if Japan likes panty shot games or Europe likes Assasin's Creed, it's about what Americans find dersirable about 360 and I believe it has something to do with violent, first person(you do the killing) games. Please argue against this, not anything else. See now, it was you who started CULTURE WARS.
[QUOTE="Shame-usBlackley"]I know it's only preference and all, and I also know some dude in Japan is looking at the Halo sales for America and thinking the same thing, but those Super Mario Galaxy numbers lead me to believe that there is something wrong with those people.
I mean no offense towards Wii Play or Mario DS, but Galaxy just takes a huge, steaming dump on both of them. There's not even any comparison. And the fact that both those games have sold, like, a zillion copies in Japan, while Galaxy struggles to even break half a mil is nothing short of baffling.

It's just as CarnageHeart explained core gaming in Japan has been dying for years. Gaming isn't like here in the States where it's dominated by mostly college kids, high schoolers, and what not. It's mostly people who play them casually. There aren't too many people in Japan that take gaming as seriously as we do in the West. Basically the same people who brought Valkyrie Profile some years ago aren't the same people who brought Mario Party DS, and if they are then they just don't take gaming as serious of a hobby as they use to. Those days ended with the 90's. Though I admit some of my post is just assumption, except core gaming dying of course.
Ahhh....welcome to the new era of gaming. Enjoy SMG...with the numbers these mini games are getting, don't expect a lot of effort out of these companies. I know if I ran the business, I'd do what made me the most profit.BuddaX
Nintendo doesn't put alot of effort into their game? Sorry I just didn't understand with what you said.
I didn't mean Nintendo doesn't put effort into their titles, I just meant if sales of these types of games continue, why would a company put time into creating epic, innovative titles if the mini game, rehash franchise business makes them so much more money? They can just lay back and crank these games out these games and watch stock prices rise. I don't like it either, but sales numbers are the bottom line.Ultimately, I just don't want to see games like SMG get overshadowed by a game like Mario Party.

I have to agree...what the hell is going on over there?!?! Mario Galaxy deserves the publics full attention. How can these other games dominate the sales charts, while masterpieces drop to 6th place. 6th place! Mario Galaxy! It should be #1 for 5 weeks straight!

You haven't played anything yet...get a little farther the game jacks up the challenge.Ive recently got super mario galaxy and Ive got to say Ive really enjoyed it, the unique gameplay mechanics are so fun and the controls are suprisingly intuitive for a wii game. My one problem with it, is its too easy.
Ive got so far 61 stars and Im at the bedroom. Only 3 of those stars I would say I had to put in any effort to get at all. Despite sheep always violently argueing that despite mario games looking childish that your average child could not complete it as it was much harder and took much more skill than the childish look gave it credit for. But with galaxy I really felt its finally been brought down to that level, is it so nintendo's new audience does'nt find it uncomfortably hard, who knows.
So tell me guys am I right or have I just become some kind of platforming god since I played super mario sunshine? Because I seriously dont think Ive improved by THAT much since then.

What a celebration! Games like Galaxy are the reason I got into gaming.
Time to go back and play more.....
