The only reason some 360 Multiplatform games theoretically have looked better on the 360 is because the PS3 1 year delay,massAttack2k

1: How do you explain Halo CE looking better than all PS2 games when it launched despite the fact that the PS2 had a 1 year head start?

2: How do you explain the fact that even though the PS2 was the graphically inferior console it got by far the most developer support and fan attention?

3: Given number 2, what would lead you to believe that the graphical differences between the PS3 and the 360 this generation will have an affect on sales when the difference between the PS2 and the XBox was far greater and despite this the PS2 "won?"

4: How do you explain the Japanese powerhouse that is DQ being shifted to the the weak (graphically speaking) DS from the powerful PS3? if graphical capability were the main concern why in the world would something like this happen?

It's clear that developers don't care about graphical capabilities any near as much as they care about total user base.

You post way, way too much and don't think nearly enough. Think before you post, please.

[QUOTE="echelon"]Here is a difference. The PS3 has already sold alot more then the 3DO ever did.echelon

Not really, the 3DO sold 6 million units.

It did? I just read the number from vgcharts which is 1.35 million. You could be right though, I really have no idea.

ETA: I just looked at the wiki and it seems you were right. I take back what I said.

The estimations vary wildly.... I remember reading somewhere that Panny never released official sales figures (as in number of units sold) for the 3DO (because its performance was considered an embarrassment,) so most of the figures are based on guess work from recorded profits (monetary figures.) It hink Wikipedia lists it at around 5 or six million, VGCharts lists it at over 1 million.... who knows.

I'd say 6 million is more likely though, it sold relatively strong in Japan.

The 3DO begins with a 3 and the PS3 will end with a 3.  Hence the first console to flop for lack of games and the last console to flop for lack of games.chulomex3

Is this a joke?

Both had hardware that was ahead of it's time but customers fell behind in "just wait till" mode.

chulomex3

Customers never fell into "just wait till" mode for the 3DO, more like "I'll never get one" mode.

Also, the PS2's hardware was ahead of its time when it was first released.... and look how that turned out.

Both consoles were black.

chulomex3

The highest selling console in the history of the industry was also black.

Both had a revolutionary device that would change gaming (CD in the 3DO and Blu-ray in the PS3). chulomex3

No, PS3 is the first to implement Blu Ray. By the time the 3DO was released CD gaming was "old hat." The PC Engine (or TG16 over here) had been using CD's for years.

This thread has to be a joke.... but I don't get it.

[QUOTE="ps3gen"]At first it was announced for PS3 .
Buff-McBlumpkin

No, it never was.

When the game was first announced (for no platform specifically) gaming sites put up pages for both the 360 and ther PS3, then when the systems for it were officially announced it was announced as a 360 and PC exclusive.

That being said, I would not be surprised if it eventually made its way to the PS3..... in fact I would be more surprised if it didn't get there eventually.

BioShock is my most anticipated game of 2K7, that being said - I could care less what platform it's released for so long as I get to play it.

To follow up on this here's the game announcement for Jan 2006:

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/bioshock/news.html?sid=6142322&mode=all

GS: Which next-gen consoles is BioShock in development for?

KL: We haven't revealed platforms at this time other than to say it's coming for next-generation consoles and PC.

At first Ken (head of Irrational Games) refused to officially announce the specific console/consoles it was for. When the official announcement came it was 360/PC.

Who knows. Gears of War got a 9.4 over at IGN yet a 9.6 here on Gamespot. We should wait and see, as this ratings game is unpredictable. I predict a high AA to low AAA score anyway though.

zeonne

yeah and pdz got low aa at ign but aaa here at gs....see a trend?

No, I see a fluke.

A trend is a series of similar events that demonstrates a tendency. The fact that IGN tends rate 360 (and games from all systems as a general rule) higher than GS makes the PD0 rating an exception to the rule by definition - a fluke. It hardly constitutes a trend. GS does not tend to rate big-name 360 games higher than IGN does, the evidence just isn't on your side.
