i have the Ipod Touch and there is no way to play music through the 360 , only view pictures.shuttle1There is a media update on the marketplace... you tried that?
Seriously 2.0, 100,000 kills, will you care? Toriko42
The only think it proves is you cheat or you have no life.
Right to clear this all up....
1. BothHDcomponent and HDMI do resolutions up to 1080p
- Important to note, if your TV has no optical out, that the xbox component cable has an optical out.. HDMI does not(although an extra adapter is available)
2. There is NO difference in clarity or quality between the two.. 1080 is 1080 no matter what cable it comes through.
3. Xbox360 games have a built in native resolution of 720p...
-I know on some boxes it will tell you 1080p but this just means it will display at 1080p
- The reason they are stuck at 720p is so as to ensure the xbox can run those games properly.
4. The Xboxdoes not upscale 360 games on either component or HDMI
- This is for the same reason as mentioned above upscaling is extra processing power that MS want to keep a cap on to ensure all games are playable.
- It will upscale in the sense that it will display 720p at 1080p res.. but this is not true upscaling .. it is only streaching the picture to fit the larger res.
5. The xboxwill upscale movies through HDMInot component.
- In this case upscaling does affect picture quality as it softens pixels and blends colours making the picture less "blocky" at the higher res.
So to sum it up...
If you only play games and arent bothered about the amount of cables behind your TV then keep the component.. especially if you need its optical out.
Get HDMI of you are serious about movies (remember downloaded HD films will work fine using component) and really need that upsacling boost to your DVD collection. Or if you are funny about cables and only want the one.
Final thought
Dont buy an HDMI cable for over £15 (unless you need the length) you should be able to find plenty of 2 metre cables on PC supply websites or at supermarkets like tesco etc etc.
[QUOTE="heretrix"]Not really. But if you have a reciever that has HDMI connections, it's only one cable for the audio and video.mack10actually there is a difference, it looks better using HDMI and you can play it on 1080i, so there is a difference yes. Component can do 1080
