Sounds great, hope most of it's true (except the name Octobox, of course. :P)
I don't like when games take unwanted initiatives: I dislike auto-reloads (like in Freedom Fighters) and I don't like auto-cover systems (Mass Effect 1, Kane & Lynch 1, RE: Operation Raccoon City), they often trigger when you want to do something else and end up ruining your strategy.
As for LS and RS, sure, they're there to be used, but since analog sticks are so brittle, I think using them for the most frequest actions in the game is kinda silly. I don't much like the "just buy a new controller when sticks crap out" argument either. Controllers should last: my original xbox controllers are still perfect and that's because LS and RS were not used continuously by games back then.

Hey, like I said, I want someone to develop an auto-cover system that's natural and fluid. I agree it shouldn't invade your tactical stratagem. After all, most shooters rely on you crouching beneath a crate and strafing in and out from behind a wall, and I want to see a form of that that's much more logical, and helpful.
Then I say controllers should have better sticks. That's about all my argument is regarding that.

at you.
Bethesda's games although good are a buggy mess and hardly offer anything good in terms of story or characters.
And Bioware, well although they do good characters and decent stories they ruin their games with bad design choises. I personally think jrpgs were way ahead of them in both aspects in the ps and ps2 eras, nothing bioware has done has yet to come close to the stories or characters jrps offered back then. The problem with jrps were the lack of decision and choise making but this way they could deliver a more directed and better story.
Never mentioned how good Bethesda's stories were, just that you can murder almost anyone you don't like, and then pose their ragdolls in humiliating ways. And Baldur's Gate has nothing on JRPGs? Riiiiiiight.[QUOTE="CRS98"]Why not, I'll pitch the control scheme for the FPS/TPS hybrid I have in mind. Xbox controller applies: I myself often wonder why no one has made a fluid, buttonless contextual cover system. Is that just too expensive to make?Black_Knight_00
Well, it's been done a couple times, Rainbow Six Vegas and Deus Ex HR have it and it's great, though it's mapped to LT, which sucks, cause it means aiming with RS. 007 Quantum of solace has it mapped to the A button Gears-style, but it's iffy and it sacrifices the jump function. Plus a few games have first person cover systems (which I don't like too much). I find LB to sprint and take cover (which is what Gears of War and Bulletstorm do with the A button) to be a reasonable choice. Rainbow Six Vegas and Hitman Absolution sprint with LB and I thing it's a very comfortable setup.
I'm talking about about a cover system where you just kinda hug up against the wall automatically where no buttons, or triggers, are involved, just an pushing the sticks in the direction of cover. Kinda like the first Mass Effect, only more natural and fluid. I didn't quite like the cover system as much in 2 since the cover button is also the sprint button AND interact button, and I had a wonky time avoiding enemy fire in some areas. Granted, a badly worked cover system won't do you much good, but I'm starting to get sick of all these "switch to third person" cover systems in FPS games (yeah, I know, they're not everywhere, but it breaks immersion when it does happen). How so I miss the days of needing to lean if you want to see around the corner, much less take cover.
Concerning your other question: LS and RS (the stick clicks) are far less durable than the other buttons on the controller. Playing a sprint-heavy shooter too much means messing up your analog sticks. The same can be said for crouching or aiming with RS, I never like that too much, since I crouch a lot in shooters.
Of course the best scenario would be to have fully customizable controls, like in the first Killzone on PS2, but the industry seems to have gone backwards in this regard this generation.

An obsolesence scheme, I suspect. I actually think that's how a few of my controllers ended up with the sticks being messed up where you slow to a crawl when pressing up. Still, they're there, and not using them makes them pointless. Besides, buying a new controller is as good an investment in buying a new game, in my fair opinion.
Also take into account how bad false flagging can be. There's a few users who are just that spiteful. Yeah. There has been a flame war going on between AVGN and Irate Gamer fanboys, with flagging left and right. The worst part is, if memory serves, the IG actually encouraged this nonsense in one of his videos (unlike James, who never commented on it, as far as I know). I wonder if this contributed in any way to this ban. I stumbled across a mess between multiple channels. Apparently, some guy didn't like being made fun of, so he kept false flagging people. Pretty much no one liked him after that.[QUOTE="CRS98"][QUOTE="Black_Knight_00"]Youtube is ridiculous, their automated copyright system is completely broken and has been banning people without reason for years. I hope they get sued blind.Black_Knight_00
[QUOTE="CRS98"]Japan's getting pretty much left in the dust this gen, and JRPGs don't really appeal to what people typically find in an RPG, especially when you're going up against Bethesda's style of openness and interactivity, and BioWare's ability to craft worlds and characters and excellent gameplay.Krelian-co
