I find it funny how (lets be nice) inexperienced many... people are with hardware specifications. I just love how everyone compares the Wii to an XBOX based on rumored specs. Let me clue you guys in on how far off the power differences are.

In PC CPUs, I compared a P3 800 MHz CPU to a neighbor's 1.8 GHZ CPU. Which computer was faster? The Pentium 3. Why? Because the other computer was using a CELERON CPU!!! The processor was 1 GHZ faster (125% faster) than mine, but it could not handle squat what my computer can.

Is that comparison not good enough? Compare an AMD Athlon 3200+ to an Intel P4 3.2 GHz CPU. Both supposedly do the same about of work, but the AMD CPU is approximately a 2.2 GHz CPU. They might be close in actual performance, but the Intel CPU has more clock speed.

And for the final comparison that really shows the difference between the Wii architecture and the Gamecube's architecture. Compare the Intel Pentium 4 series to that of the Intel Core and Core 2 series. Clock speeds reduced, but each clock cycle does more. Would this affect backwards compatibility? Heck no. The x86 design from its first generation to its 8th generation, undergoing serious changes and improvements, still support the basic x86 assembly code.

What does this mean with the Wii? Just because rumored specs show the hardware is like 50% faster in each section, the GPU went from ATI Radeon 9700 hardware to ATI X1K series hardware (maybe X2K series). Huge changes and a few generations apart. The GC GPU was a powerful GPU in its time. And the same difference is in the CPU too.

Now look at the hardware in the X360 and PS3. Their hardware technology are generations more advance than their predecessor. Why not the Wii's technology? Oh wait, it is more advance than the GC's hardware. One feature we currently know that the Wii's hardware has is very-low power consumption. No specs yet released say what the Wii can do.

In conclusion, the Wii is far more powerful than an XBOX. The developers are currently too busy learning the new controls to take true advantage of the hardware's other abilities.
