I'm sorry but anybody who says that buying a PC is cheap ALWAYS forgets that 90% of people who don't own a good PC need a monitor, and probably speakers or headphonesWasdie
Not even an argument - as already mentioned, going by this you need to add on the cost of a TV and speakers for the purchase of any console. However, the main problem with this argument is that a PC will work on any TV, but of course as a console fanboy you cannot be expected to have basic technical understanding like this.

And the two weird resolutions combined make up 28% of your numbers. Aren't the other 72% the most common resolutions then?NielsNL
No - they are the most popular individual resolutions. The resolutions that the PS3 supports are far less popular: 1920 x 1080 - 11.09% 1366 x 768 - 5.58% (Standard small-screen HDTV resolution) 1280 x 720 - 0.70% As for the remaining resolutions, they are unsupported by both the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The PS3 upscales all games to 720p (or 1080i/p if it supports it). Yes, your monitor will support it.BigBoss154
Low-resolution video signals like 720p look like trash when upscaled by the display on high-resolution monitors.
What does resolution do with anything? And it makes up quite a portion of ur argument.mystervj
Resolutions don't matter? Clearly you think that the jump to High-definition was pointless. The point is that the PS3 looks terrible on 1280x1024, 1440x900 or 1680x1050 displays, the most popular resolutions for PC gamers.

Recently there have been a large number of claims that the better choice for a PC owner would be to buy a PS3 if they were looking for a console (and given the option of a PS3 or an Xbox 360). These entirely false claims are stated by many as if they are factual, with phrases such as 'the PS3 is the only logical choice' or 'it's pretty simple logic - the PC/PS3 combo is by far the best' used all too often. For one point, there are still plenty of Xbox 360 games that are not available on the PC, and even a small number that are better on the Xbox 360, like Modern Warfare 2. Even if the Xbox 360 does not have as many games to differentiate itself from the PC as the PS3 does, there are other things that support this combination of system ownership, like the shared Gamertag between XBL and GFWL with joint achievements/friends list, or the possibility of using the Xbox 360 controller with its accessories on both the Xbox 360 and PC. Aside from that, there is one major reason that PC users will, in most cases, actually favour the Xbox 360 over the PS3: display resolution. Many PS3 fanboys laugh off the PS3's serious lack of support for both 1440x900 and 1680x1050 display resolutions, ludicrously claiming these to be 'unusual' or 'weird' resolutions. The June 2010 Steam hardware survery found the following to be the three most popular resolutions for their PC users: 1280 x 1024 - 17.09% 1680 x 1050 - 16.79% 1440 x 900 - 11.21% So the two 'weird' 16:10 resolutions are actually the most common PC gamer resolutions along with the classic 5:4 non-widescreen resolution. This shows that all three of the most common PC gamer resolutions are not supported by the PS3, whilst the Xbox 360 supports them all, completely disproving the fact that the PS3 is the 'only logical choice' of console for a PC gamer. Never claim the PC/PS3 combination to be superior to the PC/Xbox 360 combination again, as there are significant benefits to both, meaning that it is entirely a subjective matter. The PC/PS3 combination offers a few more exclusive titles and genre variety, whilst the PC/Xbox 360 combination offers full gameplay cohesion with shared profile/achievements/friends and matching hardware support.

I'm hypothetically suggesting that the hardware comes with a software that rips the ps2 game from the dvd so you can put it on your memory stickFeedOnATreeFrog
Someone already said that this idea just won't work. Unless they sold this portable PS2 at a massively expensive profitable price, Sony would make no money out of this. Existing PS2 owners would transfer all of their games without paying a dime to Sony, new system owners would likely buy the readily available used copies of PS2 games, and piracy would go out of control.

Paying for games you already own - total rip-off. On a PC, all old games can be run in HD and with additional post-processing effects such as AA and AF added. Not to mention the fact that in most cases the online modes are actually still available for old PC games unlike the console game multiplayer servers which get shut down after a few years, and all of the user-created mods that are available to enhance the games.

Evidence to back this up? Not sure how you can compare the consoles in this area seeing as you haven't defined what you mean by 'high rated'.

The PS3 has 9 AAAE's, and 1 AAAAE, it has at least 6 very high profile exclusives (LBP2, KZ3, Socom 4, etc) that utilize the Move, and yes, my points are all facts

Again, you still haven't defined what your given term 'high rated' means. Some people could take it to mean games scoring 70 and above, whereas other may only consider a game to be 'high rated' if it scores 100. You have to define that term when you use it since there is no commonly recognised meaning for it.

totally defeats the point of competitive multiplayer if some people have a handicap and others don't

88mphSlayer
Exactly. Pitting console gamers against PC gamers is unfair and the multiplayer experience would be heavily unbalanced in favour of the controller users. Recent FPS games like Modern Warfare 2, Halo 3, and Section 8 have massive levels of aim assist, in some cases almost reaching auto aim levels. The PC players wouldn't stand a chance, unless they themselves have 100% accuracy, in which case they are admitting to hacking.

[QUOTE="CentricStorm"]Can you play against multiplayer bots in this game? If not then it will be a no-go for me.Lethalhazard
Yup. They have four levels of difficulty, too.

Could be a purchase for me then. It's good that multiplayer bots have been pretty much standardised in RTS games - I find it quite poor that most FPS developers are still not bright enough to produce good quality multiplayer AI for their games.
