I generally buy a new computer every 3-4 years and can finance it so I get the good stuff. However I don't, and won't, play catch-up with the market. Super-uber-powerful GPUs sound nice and all but it's a never ending cycle of what seems like shorter and shorter turn-around. Once developers wise-up and start included keyboard/mouse support for console games (like Epic did) I truly think the PC game market will take a severe hit. I know that's the only thing stopping me from going full-on console. Oh right that's not the topic... ATI and AMD are dragging their feet. Someone needs to crack the whip.
The G9 from a feel standpoint is garbage. IMO anyway. Especially when one can easily pick up the G5 for half the price. Razor makes some really nice products but IMO they're overpriced and a lot of extra coin is spent on the flashy designs. Which are also nice. It's really a matter of how much money you want to spend.
I was rather surprised how polished Bioshock is and how well it runs. Too bad more developers don't take the time to make sure their products don't play like ass out-the-door, because I think Irrational did a great job.
I'm willing to wait and see what the retail build brings and I'll be buying the system and the game regardless. However at the same time this article is about graphic comparison, so naturally there are going to be opinions about the the games graphical state. Some people replying to other posters commenting on the less-than-expected visual finesse need to chill-out. The graphics will more than likely improve but a) a drastic change would probably required an engine swap, which in beta is not likely and b) most people are giving their opinion on the graphics presented in this article. As of right now in this article the graphics to a lot of people (including myself) are underwhelming. But don't mistaken that for a disinterest in the game or Halo bashing because it is not the same thing.
I must admit, I was expecting the graphics to look better than they do. Especially after seeing what Valve has done with the Source engine in Half-Life 2: Lost Coast. Still, as a huge fan of the Wii graphics are the icing on the cake and not the meat and potatoes (eeeew?) of the product. I'm sure just like both Halo's before it, Halo 3 will be an exceptionally fun game. That said the graphics aren't bad, I was just expecting something more. It is possible they'll improve as the months before retail wear-on, but even if they don't this game should rock
Looks good. Had this card been available when I bought my PC instead of the GTS I might have considered it other the other. Alas that did not happen. Valen_Ca, good call on waiting to see what Crysis requires of your PC. As for me, I'm out of PC gaming after this computer becomes dated. It's becoming more and more difficult to get buddies to upgrade and I'm beginning to feel the pinch as of late. Besides, through keyboard/mouse support on X360 games and what's the difference? Woah, I'm off-topic. :|
