We live in a world where PCs, tablets, phones, and the Xbox/PS3 are pretty heavily dominated by downloadable content. Wired connections provide the fastest, and most stable connections, USB 3.0 provides the fastest transfer rates, and big hard drives are a necessity.
If the Wii U is going to last another 5-6 years then I can only hope, for the sake of gamers, that they revise it over time.

The Wii U works with external hard drives... ANY external hard drive. In terms of versatily, that's as good as things can possibly get for the end user.
Tip for ya. I agree with your comment but it comes off as a corporate release.
