[QUOTE="Odrec"]LOL Good riddance! I wonder where would they lose more money if porting the game to PS3 or losing the PS3 install base that would buy the game. Anyways, they are talking BS.VoodooHak
I agree that they're probably just rattling Sony's cage. But to have this come from arguably the biggest third party publisher in the industry is telling. And Kotick mentions something the other publishers don't: context.
Sales are great when talking to your constituency on a financial call, but put the sales in conext with the money invested in development and you have a different picture.
QTF And on top of that I think PS3 is still behind where the Wii and 360 is, look at Project Natal, pioneered on the 360 yet the PS3 (which is apparently more powerful??) only launched their on-line services properly a few months ago and DLC is still 'difficult' to push, look at Fallout 3 DLC for example, its been out for months on PC/360 but they weren't able to do anything on PS3 because the tech enabling DLC wasn't there. And then look at games like Gran Torismo, FLAG SHIP PS3 GAME! should have been there shortly after (the delayed) PS3 launch and its still not ready, are these the reasons Activision are pointing out? In my view and its just my view, Sony have really mucked up PS3s entire product 'life', the development was delayed only to produce questionably better graphics than the 360? (I can't see any different), Developers complain about how difficult it is to work with the PS3, Online content has only just been released and now we see Developers talking about dropping the PS3 due to lack of return.Yeah i heard about this read a little on Gamespot as well. I think its somthing like Project V6 or somthing... In my opinion i think the game will be terrible and fall out is like Oblivion its only really a single player gameRaffix
Try not to think of it like that, of course theyre not going to bolt MP capabilities onto oblivion/FO3 and push it out as an MMORPG, it'd be an entirely different game with different mechanics...
The Fallout universe isnt a bad place for a MMO at all the possibilities are good its just so many of us are used to being disappointed by MMORPGs now that we don't see how anything could be considered 'good'.
There are various contractual ties to the Fallout MMO that Interplay are supposed to be making I cant remember all the details but its along the lines of, Bethesda apparently reapproached and purchased all the rights to fallout but left Interplay with MMO rights but the condition was they would have to start development by 2009. Interplay are in no strong position to do that and many feel Bethesda are being real bastards doing this because if Interplay can't do it Bethesda get the rights.
Bethesda have already started looking at developing an elder scrolls based MMO so there interest in a FO MMo is obvious.
No need to hop of the defensive vitrolboy, theres nothing wrong with a range, its just very odd how said range seems to have appeared fairly recently at a similar time many other games and genres appear to be suffering from dumbing down processes of their own.Is there something wrong with providing a range of different RTS styles?
