I believe the source of his internet is the phone. Not compatible with phones. Needs a proper land line phone line outlet in your house. Do it like this: Xbox 360 ---(ethernet cord)---> modem ---(phone line cord)---> wall outlet.
Way back in primary school, back in 1992 I think it was, that all classrooms had to go and sit out in the field. It was cloudy and I looked up in the sky to see if any bombs were dropping on us.
Use manual DNS settings on the console. primary : 8.8.8.8 Secondary: 8.8.4.4 Also, as stated above, these types of connection are not supported by xbox live. but this may resolve your DNS issue. Good luck.
