There's no way to tell. I think any intended hoaxer would read descriptions of the picture before they made one. I heard something about a woman in a blue robe, but that doesn't make this real.
Super Mario Galaxy was an amazing game, one of my favorites of all time. I think a sequel sounds great, Nintendo does like to usually take things in a different direction, but when they do make direct sequels they always turn out great.
I would bet money on a 2010 release. According to Nintendo the game is almost finished, they are just holding it off since they already have a Mario for this Christmas. So unless Nintendo is lying I believe the correct answer to this poll is 2010.
It is sort of a bummer. I think a short teaser at the end of the conference would have been the icing on the cake and made for a near perfect press conference.
My rating is: Very Good (8/10) Add Pikmin 3 and I would have bumped it up to Amazing (9/10) A Perfect 10/10 could have been achieved by adding an epic Zelda Teaser at the very end of the conference. Anyways 8/10 is good enough for me.
I searched google news for you and couldn't find anything... Perhaps someone can help you, but realize that it will be difficult to separate fact from rumor until things settle down a little bit.
I have to say that they showed off way too many Mario titles. That said Galaxy 2 and New Super Mario Bros should be fantastic titles.... especially Galaxy 2! No Zelda, but still some really sweet games.
I can kind of see where you're coming from... Super Mario Bros = Super Mario 64 Super Mario Bros 2 = Super Mario Sunshine Super Mario Bros 3 = Super Mario Galaxy Super Mario World = Super Mario Galaxy 2 But to me Super Mario World didn't feel like an upgraded Super Mario Bros 3, it felt like a different game (hence the change from Super Mario bros to Super Mario World) If Nintendo Makes a Galaxy 2 I think It will feel a lot like the original, but will have a lot of improvements, new worlds, new moves, new suits, new 'mini games' and a few new gameplay elements.
