[QUOTE="Wasdie"]Well, I read someplace that this is only a 16-hour day compared to how it used to be.Earth losing gravitational pull?
So you're saying we are either losing tons of mass or our rotation is slowing down. Both are are totally incorrect...
Unless we are literally launching billion of kilos of dirt and rocks off our of planet, we aren't losing mass so we must be slowing our rotation. A quick google search shows that the rotation speed of the Earth is1037.5646 miles per hour. That means all of us on the surface are moving that fast right now. If we were losing speed even by 1 mile per hour a day, we would notice a slowdown in an increased time it takes for a day to pass, less gravity, and general momentum.
This isn't happening. The Earth is slowing down it's rotation, but we are 4 billion years old and it has only slowed by hundred at the most. I do believe at one time day length on earth was 18 hours? Maybe a bit longer. So over 4 billion years we added... 6 hours onto our day. I think we are fine.
