Without getting into sadomasochism, this is what i've come up with.

There's a quote i remember reading, "we accept the love we think we deserve".

Basically, individuals will put up with abuse and/or abusive partners due to their own feelings of self worth. People with low self-esteem will feel that they need to settle for what they have because they don't deserve anything better.

So girls that are with guys that mistreat them and guys with girls that mistreat them are basically insecure and have low self-esteem.

Because women are the worst. So many nice guys out there who would do ANYTHING for these girls, but no they want the ugly jerk with no future who mistreats them. I cant even tell you how many girls I know are like this.
