At first it sounds like she went in for her kidney stone and instead of taking care of that they cut off her arms and legs, but that's not actually what happened. She went it with a kidney stone and it was misdiagnosed and left untreated, which resulted in an infection which made the amputations necessary. They didn't remove her limbs for no reason.

War is different. Murder is the taking of an innocent life, those shooting at you are not innocent.

foxhound_fox

What if they're shooting at you because their country told them that they're the innocent ones and you aren't? What if both sides have been told by their country's leaders that they're fighting for a "good" cause? People can accept murder when the people being killed are perceived as "evil" by their side, but I don't think every war is actually "good" versus "evil."

I think religions were created because death is inevitable and often unpredictable; people could be less afraid of death if there was an explanation behind it (and something to look forward to after it)... So I don't really think death being unavoidable proves religion true. And besides, people live a lot longer on average now than they used to.

I'd think some of the religious beliefs can make people more afraid...not less.

Maybe so, but I bet a lot of people are comforted by thinking that the deaths of themselves or their loved ones are all a part of "God's plan" and as long as they're good they'll go to Heaven and live in happiness together forever. That's probably less scary than death just being a random happening out of their control that only means the end of their consciousness.

Actually, it does matter how you swing. Hit upwards does a lob, or...hit's it high up, iuno tennis lingo. If you try and hit down when you are in the middle of the court you will it the net, you can only smash if your up at the net. If you to a quick flick at the end of your swing you hit it hard, if you swing slow, you'll hit it soft.

Maybe youjust got to play it more, but there are ways to hit the ball. Also timing is very important, for smash serves and aiming. They could have done more, like being able to flippin' move your Mii.

Y'know, tennis isn't the only sport in Wii Sports right? Check out bowling and golf. Very good use of the Wiimote, boxing too. Baseball you can forget about, just as boring as the actual sport.

I played around with the game for a while, and yes, you are right: acceleration and positioning is detected to an extent. However, I'm still frustrated that the same animation is used every time... the racket doesn't follow my hand. And it still doesn't really feel like I'm in control when I do a backhand swing and my Mii still does a forehand sometimes. Also, whether the ball goes left or right seems to be entirely based on timing, which can be annoying. I mean, I see the ball coming and swing to the left, but it goes to the right because my timing was off?

As for bowling and golf, they work pretty well. That's why I didn't mention them as bad examples. :P Although golf doesn't feel that realistic; I can't always seem to register a swing. Perhaps I am doing it wrong, but I think that if the motion sensing was used as well as it could have been, there wouldn't have been a wrong way to do it.

There are a few that use the gyroscope for that purpose, unfortunately, since they are indeed micro-games, they are too short. If you have played Raving Rabbids, think of the mini-game to get the marble over to the other end by tilting the Wiimote. Cesar_Barba

There's a large ammount of minigames. Ones like the swrod boss battle and such take motion pretty well. Games like madden also use the motion sensing really well, adn hopfully no more heroes will use motion sensing really well.kittykatz5k

I haven't played Rabbids either. Maybe I'm missing out by not trying these two games? :P

In my opinion, most of the games that have so far used the Wiimote as well as they could have been games which use the infrared pointer; games like Red Steel (obviously not a perfect game, but it used the remote well), Resident Evil 4, Trauma Center, and the aiming system in Twilight Princess. This pointer works/feels much better than a control stick. However, there really haven't been that many games that use the motion sensing of the remote to its fullest extent.

For example, Wii Sports: In Tennis, although your swing will cause your character to swing their racket, how you swing does not matter. Even if you swing a back hand or a fore hand or over your head, or you swing with varying degrees of power, your character will still follow a predetermined animation when you do it. This means tennis could be played with a single button! Although it may be fun to swing the remote like a racket, it isn't really realistically translating into the game. I may be mistaken, but can't the remote's gyroscopes detect things like the tilt of the remote during the swing or the acceleration of the swing? If it can, then Nintendo could have made a game where the racket follows your hand exactly. And at that point, you have a game that could not be done on other controllers (or at least no where as easy to control) that is vastly improved over the original design.

I'm hoping in the future that there are more games that really use the remote in this way, instead of simply replacing a button with a previously planned out remote motion.

Note: I have not played WarioWare, so I didn't take this game into account. Does it have micro games which directly translate your real motion into the game, or is it all predetermined motions? Also, I would like to mention that some racing games are going in the right direction (like Excite Truck or Need for Speed) since they directly translate your steering wheel mimicking motions into the vehicle's turning.

Ironically, France helped out the U.S. in the Revolutionary War:

"France played a key role in aiding the revolution, providing the Americans with money and munitions, organizing a coalition against Britain, and sending an army and a fleet that played a decisive role at the battle that effectively ended the war at Yorktown. The Americans however were revolting against royalty and aristocracy and consequently did not look at France as a model for government."
