@KungfuKitten: Congratulations on getting the NES Classic. Balloon Fight is a really fun 2p, and you can use a Wii Classic Controller in the 2nd port for 2p. I have just been playing Dr. Mario for 2 hours I think-really addictive. Now my little girl is playing it, but my wife who is a Tetris expert has an advantage on us. Played a little Metroid and I think I am going to like this one too. We have a extra PC monitor and might hook it up to that sometime. For now we are playing it old school on the TV with the console sitting on a box in front of the TV, and a chair and bean bag to sit on. We have the resolution set to "picture perfect". I love the fast start up and load times. Everyone knows that wireless is more convenient, but the NES Classic is just a neat little console for retro gamers. I never played the Legend of Zelda or Zelda II: The Adventure of Link; and looking forward to these games as well. You were lucky to get one, hope you have with the Mini.

The nostalgia of the NES Classic Mini and the controller are strong. For an older gamer like me, there is just something both amusing and satisfying about playing games on the Mini because it is ~2 original game cartridges in size, but contains a library of 30 games. “Retro Blast from the Past!”

You don't like all 30 games. Plus I'd argue you most likely can beat all those games in a week.

Which ones do you think I don't like? Yeah right, you probably couldn't beat Pac-Man in a week.

Its been 30 years and i still havnt beat Metroid or that dang Zelda game.

I never played either of those, but I want to. (The first and only Zelda game I ever beat was The Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past). I have been trying to beat Ghosts 'n Goblins for 30 years and have not beat it.

Wouldnt that be the better route since you can add games to it?

No, because you don't have the NES Classic console, NES Controller, and compilation of games valued at ~$150 for only $60.

@Collie_Lover: It should be really easy to hook up since PC monitors usually have HDMI adapters. If your PC monitor doesnt have HDMI that is. I play my Wii U on my PC monitor.

Interesting...

Of those 30 games, how many you actually looking forward too? And since you can't add to the library, once you play those games, the mini is useless.

I will just continue with the library on the Wii U or Nintendo Switch if I need to. This is going to sound strange to some, but I have been waiting years for Nintendo to put Joust on Virtual Console. Then I played Balloon Fight on NES Mini and realized that this game is Nintendo's version of Joust, and it is pretty fun. I am looking forward to playing all of the games. When the original NES came out I only owned 3 or 4 games, and I rented and borrowed others. Several of the games are ones that I will replay over and over because they are arcade and platformers that do not really age for me. (Edit: For me, Nintendo makes video games that are re-playable like card and board games).

I was wondering the same thing. We have a flat screen computer monitor that is not currently in use, and I was thinking of trying to hook up the NES Mini to that. We currently have the console sitting on a box in front of the TV with a chair and bean bag. Also, we have a Wii Classic Controller plugged into the 2nd controller port for 2p gaming.

Getting all 30 NES Classic Edition games on Wii/Wii U Virtual Consoles will set you back ~$150. The point is to get a replica of a ~30yr old console with 30 games if you don't already have original.

This is why I said "Personally". Having a Wii & a WiiU for nearly 10 years and constantly using and downloading stuff to it has me realizing that buying this system would really just be a Novelty rather than a Thing for me to play these games. I already own like Half of the games listed for it, I might as Well just finish the List off by downloading them on my WiiU Virtual Console.

I'd also get more variety doing this, So I can get games like Double Dragon or Ninja Gaiden 3 and even obtain Master Blaster and River City Ransom which isn't even on the North American NES Minis, but on the Famicom Minis.

Only thing I thought would be neat to have is the Controller. Playing these games with the Wiimote sideways is alright, but nothing beats playing these games with their Original Controller which is beyond awesome...IF I COULD JUST GET ONE! YOU KNOW?

I understand. You should be able to get a Classic Controller sometime during the holidays. Good luck to you!

Yeah but you can't add to the library. It's makes the mini pointless long-term.

For me it is like having my old console back, but better. I was never going to be able to collect all of the original games or afford them all on Virtual Console. I know that you can sometimes find old consoles at yard sales, but this is like getting a replica with a large game compilation (30 games). Yes, nostalgia is a big part of it.
