never played demon souls, but yeah there's not much of a story so far. im not even halfway through though and  from reading other posts about it elsewhere, a lot of the npcs are eventually involved in sidequests that are supposedly pretty deep. just killin stuff and exploring the massive world is cool though, it's crazy how everything is connected, all kinds of hidden shortcuts and stuff.
