Gaylo Wars is not even in the same league as Starcraft 2.

The PSP has been the best handheld ever to compete with Nintendo's handheld.

Thats not saying much but it is true.

If I were Sony I would come out with a PS3 Phat. Twice the hard drive with none of the Blue ray Starting at $300.

Most of Wii's software at the moment is not great.  It has a couple of gems, but also many bad games IMO.  SSBB and SMG are looming on the horizon.  But even without these games, Wii's popularity is not slowing down. 

Is it the controller?

Ok, let's assume it is the controller, and that is why it is popular. 

PlayStation released with NO ANALOG control and no "true" 3D experience.  N64 comes along and basically has what many people say is the 1st true console 3d game.  Analog control provides a very different control experience from the PlayStation controller.  N64 released with a major killer ap...Super Mario 64.   It got rave reviews and was loved by most people.  This still didn't get N64 off the ground.  N64 was also only $199 and had better ingame graphics than PlayStation.   PlayStation destroyed N64 in sales and N64 failed to sell as many as SNES. 

Gamecube goes head to head with the competition but decides to use minidiscs.  It debuts $100 cheaper than the competition. For some reason, this doesn't help Gamecube.  PS2 and Xbox were more expensive and sold better. 

Fast forward today to Wii.  Wii has Gamecube-esque graphics, has a different control experience, and is $50 more than all other Nintendo systems for its debut.  It is $150 cheaper than the 360...And it becomes wildly popular??  WTF kinda logic is this?  Gamecube being $100 cheaper with its debut didn't help it one bit.  But Wii being $150 cheaper does?  Reports of broken TVs among other things from wriststraps breaking put Nintendo in a negative limelight for a short period.  People don't care.  They flock to the Wii anyway. 

Here's what I truly don't understand.  Maybe someone can help me with this.  Why would a mother or father let their 8 year old son/daughter even play the Wii?  Wouldn't they worry about their ADHD spastic child getting too clumsy with the wiimote and breaking stuff? I would think that parents that had the slightest clue about Wii would give it a second thought before giving little Johnny a Wii remote to swing around like a banshee.  Yeah, I know you don't have to swing the wiimote wildly, but I'm sure energetic little kids would anyway. 

Also, all I've heard throughout my short life is graphics, graphics, graphics.  And I'm talking about casuals.  Wii is attracting casuals who don't care about graphics?  That might be a first!  Also, Wii is somehow attracting the non-gamer.  Ok, here's my twisted logic.  Why in the world would a non-gamer suddenly want to play Wii?  Why are there so many adults playing Wii?  I really thought adults would think that Wii is too childish.  Commercials for Wii Sports is attracting adults?  How?  It "looks" like a child's toy.  I'm sorry, it does. 

2 Japanese strangers walking into a random person's house saying "Wii would like to play"?  This ad is so weird and creepy, but it is a hit.  Super Paper Mario and Wii Sports are fun as hell...but they "look" like kids games.  Yet, adults are buying Wii a lot of the time. 

Also, there is one other issue that no one ever complains about.  Finding a good placement for the sensor bar.  Some people actually have TVs that take up the entire stand it sits on and some tvs have a curved top to where you can't sit anything on it.  Good luck finding a proper sensor bar placement.  Also, a couple of Wii games are also easier to play standing.  Good luck to those people who have a heavy couch real close to the tv, allowing them zero room to work with. 

There are so many reasons why Wii should've failed.  It is hugely successful though.  It is the ultimate Rocky movie...the underdog.  I don't think any analyst in the world would've predicted Wii's success.  Even Nintendo seemed to underestimate the demand.  

All I can say is that I will never understand Wii's success.  PS2 outsold Gamecube hugely because it had so much more software.  Xbox 360 has a lot more software than Wii and has more AA games right now.  Yet, Wii is catching up quickly anyway.  I'm completely astounded by this because it doesn't make sense.  Nintendo made Wii with worse graphics and a different controller than the competition, is $150 cheaper, and it is wildly successful.   Nintendo made N64 with better graphics and a different controller, was $100 cheaper in its debut, and sold about 70 million less units than PlayStation. 

So I ask again....Where the hell is the logic in this and why is Wii so successful?

I have to say that I have never run across a more deluded group of people in my life. I am not talking about all of you, only the ones that insist on doing nothing but trashing systems they know nothing about. As an owner of them all I can easily point out all the faults with each system without feeling like I have been screwed.

360 - Hardware Faults (Never happened to mine, but is not happening enough to be considered disasterous) Too many SKU's

PS3 - PR Nightmares, Bad Controller, Lack of Games.

Wii - Subpar Graphics, Lack of Games, Lack of Online games.  

 

You can all whine and complain all you want but each one of these systems is awesome. Sometimes you guys sound like spolied little brats, and it's very annoying. If you don't like something or think that it is not worth it then that is your right, but do you really need to shout about it on a forum and make up false reports. Come on people, SW is a complete joke. You have people spending their day bashing the graphics of games that we all know will look awesome whein they come out and for what, to make you feel better about your purchase. Love your game console because it is fun, not because you think THE CELL is the ROXZOr or that the XBL is da shi#. 

DOn't get me wrong I don't think I am better then anyone, I have bashed alongside you fro a long time but I have always doone it as more of a game, I think some of you are taking this seriously.
