Go into the router configuration and turn off SSID broadcasting. This is a known issue with the ps3, and it fixed all of my problems with the wireless.
Don't listen to these people that just look at those viewing charts and tell you 1080p doesn't matter. Most of them have never actually seen it for themselves. I have a 40 inch 1080p tv and I can easily see the difference between 1080p and 720p. If you have a tv that does 720p you should be fine, but if you're buying a new one get one that does 1080p.
So the first 500,000 European ps3 owners get Casino Royale on blu-ray. That sure beats Talladega Nights. I guess everything really is better about the Euro ps3 launch.
Anyone who says 1080i is better doesn't understand how this stuff works. The i in 1080i stands for interlaced. This means that not all 1,080 lines are displayed at once, but rather half are displayed, followed quickly by the other half. So, at any given time, a 1080i picture will have 540 lines on the screen. The p in 720p stands for progressive, which means that all lines will be rendered. So at any given time, a 720p picture will have 720 lines on the screen. More lines means a better picture. 720 > 540. That's why 720p came after 1080i.
